It seems like everybody but the manager seems to know what is wrong with our midfield. This is one reason why I had hoped Guardiola had come here. He would have sorted out this mess. I don't expect RDM to.

what do you people expect!? an overhaul is not done in one window!? my God! the double pivot the double pivot the double pivot, yes it is our weak point but you cant buy WC players at every position. everybody throws around witsel, tiote, javier martinez,de rossi, these players arent peanuts and last time i checked neither was oscar nor hazard! we had to fix the wings and we did (unless you want kalou and malouda on the wings be my guest) but now the cm will need fixing but at a later date. we would have to forfeit one or maybe even both of those signings(oscar and hazard) if we were to buy the CM everybody wants this window. i dont mind people talking about our weakness, believe me, but talk about what RDM should/can do in the mean-time not just blast the man! PEP would have sorted this out........ :banghead:

@SeB,

the problem here is nobody in the 23-28 age bracket (mikel doesnt count) and thus nobody to truly boss the midfield and drive us forward. lampard is physically incapable now and that's why we need another CM ahead of a striker. cabaye or moutinho would improve this team GREATLY

Moutinho is a good shout, I like him. He could be our midfield general but he's at Porto and you know how easy is to do business with them.

I left the other points but those 3 shocked me:

Can you name me any team in the world, any defensive animation in the world where the defensive minded player is responsible to come out and instigate pressing ? You wont ever find that. In the double pivot that's Lampard's role to instigate the pressing, like Khedira with Germany. Not Mikel or Schweinsteiger for god's sake !

I think you have to watch again the 3-1 lost to Manure last season: Meireles in front of the defense, Rooney had all the space in the world. Mikel came on in the last 20mn, we barely see Rooney. Despite him scoring hands of goals before and after this game

In the double pivot, Mikel's first task is to cover Lampard, not the defense like in 4-3-3. Due to the lack of defensive contribution from Mata, Hazard etc... we're overcrowed in midfield zones and Mikel cannot mark/cover more than one space (I start to think that if Mikel manages to mark 3 players at the same time, maybe he'll get some consideration). Mikel often faces situations where he knows that every positionning choice he'll make won't prevent the dangerous situation to go on

I don't deny Mikel's game was weird yesterday but that's not his own fact when we face an atypic team like Wigan. Same system than City last week but Mikel wasn't under pressure. The most of the covering work was expected to be Hazard and Bertrand's even if Mikel had a bit to do as well. He had 2 tackles and 2 interceptions, that's decent considering he wasn't pivotal in the opposition's mind (who didn't aimed specifically on him)

good post actually

but thats can be mean

mikel should be use just for certain situation & specific tactic not playing regular

the task to kind of standing in some area to help cover opposition to prevent player get pass

but thats, what i meant to

sometimes he just like there to fill posistion

he still not really good to covering the space

when he supposed to be more mobile, more hardwork and better in movement

when he come out, not stay deep to sit back

he not really good in movement and to marking the opposition midfield

what mikel can offer is calm and disclipined ( like he showed in ucl, with the double pivot system to more sit back)

but for me he not rarely miss focused and not intelligent enough

and in double pivot system with lampard

lamps mobility is not good enough and pairing with mikel ?

the system in midfield is hardly to work

because one is old and another is can be really hopeless

for me that pairing is can be our big problem for this season

because that elemetn is engine to the team

Ah, yes. ENGLANDS BRAVE LION MR CHELSEA CAPTAIN LEADER LEGEND CAN DO NO WRONG, HE HAS 2, NO 52 IF HE WANTS, SEASONS LEFT IN HIM. The 'its JT he can do what he likes' argument makes as much sense as Tottenham fans' arguments last season when we requested to move the FA Cup tie. It consisted basically of "WE ARE TOTTENHAM SUPER TOTTENHAM FROM THE LANE FROM THE LANE WE ARE TOTTENHAM SUPER TOTTENHAM FROM THE LANE FROM THE LANE."

He has declined massively, and he will quickly turn into a liability a la Carragher in a year or so. We missed a huge trick by not getting shot of him for 40 million in 2010, that is an enormous sum for anyone, let alone a defender. 40 million pounds for a 29 year old centre back, we should have taken it then and there and lol'd all the way to the bank. We could have gotten Modric for that money. Or 4 great young centre backs. Anything we wanted really. That was before PSG turned up and made it harder to compete.

You're an absolute disgrace to all the Chelsea supporters in the world. Maybe you've picked the wrong club in London, I think that Wet Spam and Millwall (God forbid even the Spuds would probably like you) are the right clubs for you. If not, then you could probably fuck off to filthy Leeds. They like miserable gits with no future.

18 years old and so cocky, that's quite the performance. JT is an absolute legend, and he is by far the best defender we have in the club right now. He's our captain. He is a legend up there with the King of Stamford Bridge and Zola. If we had sold Terry back in 2010 we could have retired for good as a club.
