Ludicrous to keep Malouda?

You mean the instance where he allowed Xabi Alonso's beard to waltz right by him and first time volly the ball into the back of the net?

Yep.

Say what you say, but he is an attacking player. Much more than the suggested alternatives Essien or Romeu. And no, I didn't see what he did at the Euros, but don't care either... It was not Chelsea and it was one situation. Generally he defends better than Mata. Can't comment on Hazard and Marin, but by the looks of it they are not much better.

I'm just saying if you want to defend, then what's the point of bringing in Malouda, who is not exactly good at it.

Just switch the formation, bring on another midfielder, and we should be more compact at the back. And also still have 3 forwards in the line up.

Lampard and Meireles aren't wingers and they don't fit the number 10 role anymore. Sturridge is a striker, period. Kakuta is nowhere near first team material. Thorgan? Does anybody seriously consider him a first team player? :carlo: By that logic we could consider the whole academy and we'd never be sparse. And it's time to put Ramires back where he belongs.

Of course we could revert to panic selections, but I'd rather have somebody natural there.

I know they are not wingers, but i am simply saying that the likes or ramires and still Lampard imo aswell can all move into the CAM position and one of the 3/4 can then move to the wing, so it is not a defniate 4 people and we need him for depth... Also i agree sturridge is a ST, but i would still rather have Danny at RW than Malouda at LW...

I like Malouda, i really do but the nail was hit in the first line. 2010 was his year, that was 3 years ago. We can keep him for his experience with helping the youngsters adapt etc but i can't see him making any sort of impact next season. Regarding what he has won and played for in his Chelsea career, so had Kalou, didn't mean he was good but they played with great players in a super Chelsea era. Malouda has had a good Chelsea career for sure but this would be more dramatic if he had 4 years left. I'm in no doubts that this will be his last year if he stays as he only has one year left to run. Robbie didn't even play him when he took over from AVB, he favoured Kalou, probably because of his age. Even in the UCL final, he came on with only 15 minutes left, Robbie opted for Ryan Bertrand on the left side of midfield which must've said something and i don't remember him doing much when he came on. Last season was hugely disappointing for him.

He has looked alright in pre season tho to be honest but we should be keeping him for experience rather than his ability. He's played well in some big games i,e Wembley games and Old Trafford in 2010 but i don't think he has the big game in him any more. I would be more confident seeing even Benayoun in a game against Real Madrid at the Bernaneu than i would Malouda. Hazard, Oscar and Mata are the real deal. Marin has the pace and ability to be a great player too and i would trust all of these in big games because for their ages, they all have played some big games and tournaments in their careers already and like i already said, Malouda was left out of the UCL Final for a teenage left back at right wing so i don't think Flo Mo is still here for his big game prowess.

Malouda is still here because maybe nobody will pay him what he's on here, he has experience and he's a popular guy in the dressing room or on the training ground. I like Malouda, he's had a good Chelsea career, not a great one but a good one. He's in his 30's now and Robbie quite clearly showed that he's not gonna be the man to play for his team. Suddenly.... Robbie now has the job and who has he bought in? 3 players who occupy Malouda's area of the pitch and still looking for more.

Like some said, watch the Spain vs France game and the Xabi Alonso goal. That alone shows why he has to go. The parasite only wants to stay because no one else will pay his wages. A dirty leech, and I find it amusing that people are using the "experience" card as a reason to keep him. Yes, he certainly as a lot of experience on being lazy and extremely frustrated.

I don't care if we have to exterminate his contract and pay him compensation. I do not want him in the squad anymore.

I shall continue to support him from the stands... and also call him a lazy fucking cunt now and then out of frustration.

End of the day the judgement of the managerial staff is final, and they are optimistic that he can have a good season -so back the French international employee until otherwise.

A parasite is what appears to have taken residence in my stomach in the last couple of hours, not Florent Malouda.

If its a helminth youll be ok -a protozoa and you need some kind of treatment. If its Florent he'll be strolling around for ages

my thought is just simple one, maybe we need to keep 1 exp player of attacking player, and if choose between benayoun or malouda

i choose malouda, because bena playing type is already had in such marin, etc

but little more strenght powerfull body is what malouda can offer

plus decent cross from touchline (not from deep or middle because his timing or decision often bad), but for me when he cross from the wing, its still good

and his link with ashley is good, ( like TS already point out)

You are a fantastic writer Alex. I bust my ass off in attempts to compose a piece like this but i always tend to fail with narratives.

I hope my post directed at you earlier wasn't the catalyst of you making this thread because I did feel a little harsh on Malouda considering the impact he had in his early Chelsea career of which you mentioned. Maybe it would be a good idea to keep him on for another season as a bit part player but nothing more.

Perseverance is always key when writing. And practice. And also patience. Pair those with a half-decent vocabulary and a metaphor or two and you'll do fine! You should give it a go, the more writers we have the better! I do appreciate the comment.

And your post sort of was a catalyst, but I find some of my best work is actually an emotive eulogy to our players, ie the recent ones regarding Drogba and Petr. I just fancied writing about something... controversial. This fit the bill.

Malouda will always be remembered as a chelsea great.

However, at this point in time, IMO there are enough players ahead of him in terms of subs.

Its not that he is bad, but i feel he cant change a game anymore.

If we are not winning and Malouda comes on as a sub instead of say Marin or Sturridge or Ramires(for his Pace and workrate) or whichever other players we might sign, that is what infuriates me.

Nothing against him or his abilities

However, if we are winning, he will be a calm influence to see the match out.( as a sub )

Catch 22.

I'll take all of those things into account when i Resurrect my feeble attempts at writing an interesting thread! =)

I have always said that Malouda has fantastic technique. I would keep him but as our last resort because I believe we have better younger hungrier players in the squad. At the end of the day we need squad players who are willing to do a shift when needed so players like Raul and Flo Mo are useful in that regard !

Quality article as usual Alex. especially the trip down memory lane..even if we don`t share the same opinion on whatever topic. it`s so much better than reading half hearted remarks with nothing offered to back up the opinion shared.

It`s not ludicrous to keep Malouda but with Hazard and Marin i presume the 1-2 at LW/LM and others capable of playing there . where does he fit in?

i`ve never been a boo bird atleast not against our own. i`ve called Klinsmann a diving nazi cunt (i know not all germans were Nazi`s but when he`s dived for a pen or whatever against us,ya know..we do come from cavemen) but not our own players..never even called Darren Wood "Sharon" when many used to. but i am a bit mean to Flo mo online i guess. most of that has been from the club supposedly wanting to sell him and his seemingly unwillingness to be sold which appeared to be over salary.

also i don`t think we should keep a player for his experience when his talent has waned to a level where he`s third choice at best.the same i think about Ferreira. because although there`s young players at those positions they are experienced enough. both Marin and Hazard have enough experience..if we was talking CB then yeah the safety valve of a veteran would come in handy but not so much for the LW/LM position. i believe even with Malouda and Ferreira gone we would still have ample experience where it matters. if Malouda could play multiple positions and perform decently there then great he`d be worth keeping but not just as third choice LW/LM.

having said all that..it`s not in our control so all we can do is hope whatever is the best for Cfc happens. and cheer the team on from the stands .

I'd much rather keep Benayoun than keep Malouda. Benayoun at least has an incredible work rate. Malouda on the other hand is a completely mediocre player who isn't good at anything in particular. His work rate is okay at best, he's not particularly fast, he's not that strong, his technique isn't that great, he's not a great passer or crosser, etc. He's sort of like Meireles, another extremely mediocre player on the team, but at least Meireles tries. I guess it won't hurt too much to keep Malouda around, but at this stage, but my expectations are very, very, very low from him.

but just in my opinion

malouda can give little more physical presence

than bena who physically similliar with kind of marin, ramires, mata

and we need that stronger body upfront for certain situation

for work rate, i agree but i think on the flank

malouda have good understanding and combination with ashley cole

not just in attack, but for defence too

and for passing, yes, he is average even awful sometimes mostly when he is in the mid

but when he cross from wide , i think he still can manage good crossing
