Seems that people are starting to compare Oscar and Coutinho on Twitter. Yet another player comparison obsession!

Its mainly the liverpool fans who are making those comparisons.I think coutinho has been very good for liverpool so far.

A good comparison is with Coutinho 20 years old and a Brazilian. In January this year Liverpool bought him for 8 + million pounds from InterMilan on Rafa's recommendation. (Oscar was 20 + million). He has only played about 7/8 games has scored 2 goals and has about 5 assists. He is far more incisive than Oscar, some of his passes into the box are out of this world and he is not afraid to shoot. He is fast and direct. He runs with the ball at his feet and usually beats his man. His passes are hard and accurate. He rarely loses the ball.

In contrast, Oscar runs badly with the ball at his feet, does not have many ideas about beating a man and very frequently gives the ball away to the opposition allowing them to counteract when Chelsea is stretched. He is not a genuine playmaker his passes are soft and hit and miss. When all is going well and he has plenty of space and is not being pressured by defenders, he can swing in a good kick. He has flashes of promise but altogether is not good enough yet.

Have you ever asked yourself why Oscar wears Brazil #10 and Coutinho doesnt even make the cut?

Thought he was rather poor today. Maybe it's the effect of playing 3-4 games in the past week & over the course of the season but he kept losing the ball against Sunderland. Poor passes and poor touches. Hope he can pick up his form, especially in the league.

He's 21, and has played 4 games in 8/9 days and 50+ matches in total all season (not including friendlies and internationals). He's bound to be freakin' knackered, so one off-game isn't going to surprise me every now and again.

Yeah.

Furthermore, we do need to realize that league seasons in Brazil start in May, if I got it right. According to wikipedia, he has played 5 games in the league, 9 in the league cup (I don't know to which competition it refers) and 6 in the continental competition (Copa Libertadores or Sudamerica ?) — which amounts to 20 games before joining us. I don't really know how works the Copa, nor the league cup there, so I can't tell whether all these games started after May, though... Maybe a brazilian member can help to work out this matter ?

Under our colours, he has played 53 games, the same amount as Mata...! He also has played 5 games during the Olympics this summer, and we can assume than since the start of his football season in Brazil to right now, he has played more or less 10 games (?). That's a long and tiresome season, especially when you consider the difference in pace between his home country and the football here. No wonders he has some games off every now and then, especially late in the season !

Oscar is just going through the "first season" wobbles that I expected both he and Hazard to have.

With as many appearances as he's racked up it's easy to forget that this is just season one for him in the PL. up until this move he was just playing in Brazil with the occasional NT appearance.

i am suprised how quite this thread is compared to what u read when u go thru a mikel or a moses thread.

for me he has had a very average season.given that he has played a lot of football in the last year and given that even the most accomplished footballers have struggled in PL, an average season should not be very suprising. but it is not his performances that worry me, its his attitude. sometimes i feel he could not care less about the team and that is what is worrying me the most as a 20-21 year old player with his potential and a big and popular club career at chelsea should not be acting this way.

Let me ask you something Mr Genious:

Can you see a clear differance in his performance when he's on the wing and when he's positioned centrally?

I think some people here are really naive sometimes. Playing on the wing and centrally isnt the same thing at all. Some people even seem to think that a midfielder should be able to play as good as winger, AM, CAM etc. That is just not true.

first of all no need to get snippy (MR. genious). if u want a discussion/debate i will give u one but let it be clean. all of us have different opinions and there is no need to ridicule one just because it is different from yours.

secondly, obviously there is a big difference in oscar that played under rdm (centrally) and the one playing under FSW (as a winger). but read my comment again. do i complain more about his performances or his attitude. if its not clear from the 1st comment its his attitude that bothers me. his performances have been dropping consistently and there can be a number of factors contributing to it (played on the wing, fatigue, over-exposed) but lately i have felt a lack of passion from him.

ps - accepted he has struggled on the wings, but i still feel his 2 worst performances have been when he played centrally (against qpr at home and southampton away) when both mata and hazard dint start.
