Oscar seems to be better this season. We have spent two preseason matches and he is having a good performance, better than last year, more relaxed and with more maturity in the grass. I wish he can continue like this because we really need someone like him.

Judging him needs to happen after the first 10 games of the season, to see exactly where he is at and how this 'Summer break' that he apparently needed for so long makes him kick on.

For me Oscar has a fucking lot to prove here.

For me too. In fact, I thought it was better to sell him. But he will definitely be with us this season because Jose trust him. I wish that Oscar has an evolution seemed to Eden Hazard in the last two years.

But Oscar has a lot to show us. Especially after selling Mata (especially Juan) and KDB to bet on him.

I just want to say that we carry two preseason matches and he seems to have changed his attitude. They are just two games, but he has had a good performance, different and better than last year.

I hope he will continue on this road to become a great player for our future because, if we do not we sign a creative player for the remainder of summer market, we will need him with this attitude. That is what we have ...

But Oscar is not yet a TOP CM, but he has started this season with a different attitude and with better performance. They are just two games, I know, but I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Oscar is 23 years old (24 in September) and at that age is when players reach their sporting maturity. After three years with us, he has this year the opportunity to be with us from the first day of the season after three years without being able to do this for the Olympic Games 2012, 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup.

Now that he will be with us this season I think we have to give him some confidence and wait a few matches to judge whether he deserves or not deserve to be our CM. But Oscar is having a good performance in these two preseason games and I hope he continues this way.

He still is not a TOP CM, nor the has done nothing important with us, but we have started a new season and something has changed About Him.

Before killing a player I prefer to wait at least 100 days after the start of the season ... especially if that player is one of us.

By the way, I'm not a big fan of Oscar ...

After one game Oscar becomes a great cm. After one game begovic is crap as is Costa. Lol our fans, you gotta love em.

Ironic since you are complaining about everyone else complaining about different things. But your issue is not with any players, signings or managers but rather the 'fans'. If you want to go by your logic why not go and support Stoke/Crystal Palace? They are continually being listed as having the 'best fans' in the BPL, can give you the link to the articles if you want.

Hypocrisy at its very best.

Oscar in terms of performance can indeed do better than he has, esp towards the end of the season.

Concerning characteristics, Oscar is what he is and whether he plays as a creative CM or a defensive CAM is really up to the manager and his strategy. Now, people are nitpicking on details that esp nowadays aren't that relevant as players move about and exchange positions far too often - he's prob both CM and CAM during a game.

I just take the hint from the number on his back - I honestly believe that's the role the club has for him and I am fully confident he can do it. He just needs to resume his development for club and country.

Anyone else loving how deep Oscar is dropping this preseason? At times we are playing a 4-3-3, with a Fab-Matic-Oscar, which is great as we are better able to pass around.

And then that one point where we had a diamond with Matic at the base, Hazard at #10 and Oscar and Fab on the wings. It was brilliant the passing.

I just hope Jose doesn't mis-manage him. He has to understand that Oscar is a player that gets burned out, and he can't "Mourinho" him by pushing and pushing and expecting more.

Rest him, rest him often, even if it looks like the team is firing on all cylinders. think long term. he's so bloody good.

I don't agree with everything, but I do with the gist of what you're saying. we dominated their midfield with that 4-3-3 in the first half. You replace Kenedy for Willian, demand some defending from Iva and I suppose that's our best system starting the season.

He's been working really well deeper and has given the stability we need to dominate the midfield. Even if he doesn't create much, he allows others to. But in his good days he'll create as well, so I'd give it a try if I were Mourinho... even if Willian has to keep Iva at the back of his mind

I've always believed Oscar should play deeper in a box to box CM role or a wider midfield role rather than an AM. He would be perfect in a 4-3-3 formation on the right.

Because against PSG he actually played in midfield and looked good. No dropping deep, actually playing deep.

Against Barca was just the regular Oscar dropping deep, still looking good though.

I don't think he'd be a regular option for the midfield though, especially if it's just a 2 man midfield. Reckon PSG was just forced to give minutes to everyone.

He's getting closer and closer to perfectioning his FK technique. He seems to have the power and swerve right, but the accuracy is just a bit off. If he finally manages it, he could score 3-5 FKs in a season, force plenty of corners and some rebounds. I would love that.

Barely any FK specialists in the Abramovich era. Frank was always a bit hit and miss. Drogba was excellent for just one year for some strange reason. Mata was good but left soon after he was just starting to become a genuine threat.
