Popular Post! TorontoChelsea 4,064 Posted July 30, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted July 30, 2012 I think people need more realistic expectations for Oscar. He's clearly an immense talent, but coming from the Brazilian league to the Premier League is an enormous step up and to expect him to immediately be Iniesta or something is unrealistic and unfair to him. (Just like expecting Hazard to be Messi is unrealistic and unfair to him.) These are young players coming into a new league where players are faster, stronger, and more talented and they will have their ups and downs at least in the short term. There is no 20 year old better than him that I can think of..... not even Jack "deletes twitter because hes apparently failed a drug test" Wilshere. He will rip the league up. The ability and talent is there, but there are human factors to be taken into consideration. Expectations should be lowered, but it's hard because Mata has spoiled us. Hutcho 8,443
I agree we shouldn't be going "over the top" about the guy just yet, however anyone who has seen him play at least one game of his can see he is an emmence talent, and would appear to be one of our best buys in a long time. The premier league is obviously much harder than the brazilian league, but the majority of his skill is his ability on the ball, and that shouldn't change whatever league we are in... Really can;'t wait to see him play for us... Definately the best of his type of player for his age that i can think off at the moment... KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
I think people are putting him down too much. He won't be world class in his first season but he will still be good.

I think he's still got a lot to prove to justify the hype around him. The thing that worries me the most is his work ethics. He just looks lazy at times on the pitch, especially when defending. I'm just waiting to see how everyone completely change their opinion about him when the season starts and he's not in our starting XI. Kieran. 6,317
The thought that he could easily have ended up signing for Spurs makes me positively shudder. It's funny, Spurs were closest to his signature and he obviously didn't want to play for that shit club by saying that he's staying at Inter. Just look at how he drifts all over the pitch trying to get involved in the match. He does it for the whole match and drops deep to help out the team. I also remember someone saying Oscar can do a pretty good defensive job if asked to.

We're talking about a player who's constantly on the move. And he does a lot more of defensive work than your average number 10. You can't expect all players to defend actively, it's not his job. Hutcho 8,443
I'm not too worried about his defensive duties, providing he can track his man and has a hugh work rate which he does then its fine by me, he doesn't need to be a ball winner, but a ball retainer and our playmaker, especially if at CAM, which is where we should be... We saw it yesterday, he got passed one man, looked for a pass to put neymar away, it was just blocked then he immediately chased it down, blocked the ball and won it back... manpe
