Daniel Sturridge

At Liverpool he tracks back more, he tends to even cover at LB sometimes, though he still doesn't press as vigourously as a Suarez/Tevez. Even under Mourinho our strikers don't tend to cover that much distance simply pressing and tracking back, he tends to want them in space for the counter.

Also don't necessarily agree his all round play is not good enough for us, certainly tactically he's good with the ball at his feet and can link up play(indeed I feel this part of his game is underrated), however do agree that as a physical option that is a weakness to his game. His heading is poor(and his movement/anticipatiobis so good he will often get headed chances but he doesn't time the headers well) and he does shy away from physical battles IMO. Would still gladly take him back, but won't happen.

Talking about buying him? Seriously?

Sturridge is the past. Whoever we buy in the summer (and no, never in a million years will it be Daniel) along with Lukaku (imagine him at Daniel's age?) is the future. Now can we all just move on? Jesus...

Sturridge is no scrawny but he doesn't exactly have that physical nature in him. Someone like Eto'o is technical but they also have that strength and physicality about them. Jose always seem to have these types in his teams over the years.

As for Lukaku, would he stay? There have been rumours circling that he might be sold come end of the season..

But we are not exactly playing on the counter every time only, are we?

any game against a team like Everton, Schalke or higher, we're playing on the counter. that's a lot of games in a season

Never know in a season, we only play against the likes of Everton, Schalke, Arsenal, Man City etc. What happened to the lesser teams?

And even in the games you mentioned there, it doesn't mean we'll be playing on the counter all the time. There will be games where we will be on the front foot and attack the opposition.

that's true. sturridge is most effective in a counter attacking team but i don't think he's bad in a controlling/attacking team either
