United's information is that Luke Shaw, the Southampton left-back, would prefer a move to Chelsea and the club's scouting of Internazionale's Fredy Guarín has left them unsure about exactly how good the midfielder is.Opened the link and saw this...The story that was at this URL was launched in error. Jase 43,479
And now Independent is reporting it..http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/transfer-news-manchester-united-face-race-against-time-to-win-luke-shaw-duel-as-chelsea-challenge-for-southampton-star-9086600.htmlUnited are yet to lodge a bid for the 18-year-old left-back and though a move is possible this week, the Premier League champions will need to outbid the west London side substantially if they are to secure the player’s services. Shaw, a Chelsea fan who played at the club’s development centre, is expected to be more open to a move to Stamford Bridge, though United have shown in spending a club record £37m on Juan Mata that they will invest heavily. Pizy 18,962
So now that the media are making this saga out to be a "war" and a "race" between Chelsea and Man United for Luke Shaw, not only will it be bad enough just missing out on him, but we'll hear "lolololol, Shaw chose United over Chelsea lolololol," endlessly. yuvala 2,167
30M ?? I dont think u pay that kind of money for a 18 year old LB from Southampton..Not questioning his abillity and potential but still.. I think its 20 max.

Magic Lamps 11,692
Utd vs us on the transfer market is not even a contest. If we want Shaw we will get him, I am confident of that. But we are not in a position where we have to pay 30m for a 18 year old, no matter how talented. Utd are the desperate ones.

peter_amb 54
If shaw only wants chelsea we won't need to get into a bidding war with united.Offer something reasonable but not excessive, and he's ours, in my opinion.

I'm down.
TorontoChelsea 4,064
20M is a massive fee for a LB. You can't compare it to spending on attacking players. Jordi Alba was 14M Euros and was much more accomplished and experience player than Shaw is right now. I like Shaw and would be a great fit for us long-term but 20M would make him, I believe, the 2nd most expensive LB ever after Coentrao.
