Hazard is already 27 years old.  6 or 4 years ago he was 21/23. So the excuses that he was still a "kid" was okay back then. Right now, not anymore.

Out of interest, when has Messi had a great performance in a big World Cup game or any World Cup game? I don't remember much if any. Does that then not make Messi the best player in the world?

Messi got a lot of monumental great games in his pocket. About that Atletico performance, that was in a group stage against a team that would end playing in Europa League.

Its pointless to even mention Messi because Messi has made a career of scoring goals and deciding big games by himself for 10 plus years... I get the context your trying to use but comparing Eden to Messi or Ronaldo, who have been absolute giants in cup finals for 10+ years is stupid.

They are still a top team and we are prob the only team to have beaten them at their ground last season. Had he not put in that performance and we did not win that game, we could have easily been out the group stages. I see your point regarding, he does not have enough great performances in the UCL, however without making excuses, the team's approach to a lot of the big games are really negative. If we put more emphasis on front foot, would give him more of a platform to put on a great performance.

If Eden does want to leave, would you guys prefer a straight cash offer? or player + cash?

For easy figuring lets say Hazard price is £150m.

A: Hazard to Barca/Madrid for £150m

B: Hazard to Barca for Dembele and £50m

C: Hazard to Madrid for Asensio and £50-75m

 

I am curious to hear what people think, I am tempted by the player + cash deals.

Somebody made a good point, we need to buy first and then sell. If we sell for silly money first, then all our replacement targets will automatically be 100m minimum, just like Dembele was for Barca after selling Neymar. In reality Dembele is nowhere near worth that price.

I would possibly take 150m+Dembele or 100m+Isco. Hazard is better than Neymar so his transfer sets the benchmark. 200 mill, no less. But it's not gonna happen this way.

It's a tough one, personally I want him to stay but I do understand that if he wants to go, there is not much we can do... what we do we have to realise, it's not just him that may leave, at this rate we are going to need a complete new front 3.

It's unlikely in my opinion that Dembele is going to exceed even Willian numbers in his first season, if it means we have to lose Hazard, I wouldn't entertain Dembele.

We lose Hazard, we shouldn't be looking at Asensio, we need to replace Hazard. If he goes for 150m+ we should spend that on someone that is rated 150m+

Come on, can you be realistic. 150m + dembele who they paid over 100 for? 100m + Isco? 200m Euro might be an attainable number in a bidding war but Hazard is not a better player than Neymar nor is his market value with regards to sponsorships and visibility anywhere close to Neymar. I rate Hazard highly but what you've written just isnt based in reality.

I know it isn't realistic, i even said that. But this is my valuation of him. I also don't care if you rate that cheat higher, it is my opinion that Hazard is better (for the team).

I agree, Coutinho is the starting point in negotiations. Anything less than that is non negotiable. The price IF we sell with no other players involved will probably fall closer to the Mbappe reported fee which was £166m maybe with the world cup boost its £175m

The only player that would appease me Chelsea replacing Hazard with is Mbappe.

I know that they're far from like for like replacements, but in Mbappe I see someone who is destined to become one of the very best in the world and be that talisman that Hazard already is to us.

My first choice would be to keep Hazard however.

Our best chance is trying for a cash/player for one who feels unappreciated by his current club. Whether thats the likes of Dembele/Asensio/isco/Martial whoever but its just  2 more  priorities we need to look at.

None of those are even close to replacing Hazard and if we sold him, we would be expected to pay majority of it back out on a replacement like you mentioned here or a player + peanuts deal, none of these you mentioned come close to what Hazard is for this club. it would take years for one of these players to settle and replace him as our main man.

Dont sell Hazard. Top ten world class player among this bracket of players in no order (Ronaldo, messi, modric, Neymar, kroos, Hazard, Ramos, Lewandoski, Cavani, KDB, griezmann, suarez) I dont think we will get anyone from that bracket to replace hazard, so selling him is a no.

But if Hazard forces the move or doesn't renew before his last year of contract, (I doubt this would happen but if it does,) sell to Madrid, for 100mil + Kovacic. Buy Hirvin Lozano of mexico and hope for the best.
