Just shows you, not very often anyone leaves here and goes on to have an exceptional career (Salah and de Bruyne aside).

Shame he’s finished early but he will be comfortable in life. If he doesn’t feel the need to continue or want to why not?

Most talented player we've ever had in my opinion. He can make someone fall in love with football.

I'm not 100% confident with the "ever had" part, but definetly we haven't had any attacker even close to his skills.

Pulisic, Havertz, Mount, Mudryk, Madueke, Palmer..  Around 300 million spent, but there are always if-s and but-s with these players, they couldn't even tie Hazard's shoelaces. He just walked in from French league at the age of 20 and bossed from his first PL-game. No different league, different culture shit, no too young concerns, he even was brutal when out of shape.

Mudryk and co has 1% of Hazard's talent and coolness.

Yeah some of the best moves in Chelsea I saw with him.

It's like Ronaldinho, for me he was the best ever but he only lasted a little while. But in that short time he lasted he did what no one else did in this planet.

Hazard at Chelsea the same, I never saw someone did what he did at Chelsea.

Yes! VERY similar career and demeanor; I mean one was for partying while the other family.

Ronaldinho was more complete, but it's scary to think what they might have achieved had they had a bit more determination, and were more focused on their careers--perhaps then they'd not have been the same player though.

As Kompany said, KDB thrives in a system, Hazard thrives in chaos.

that's exactly why KDB is better.

Hazard may have been the more entertaining, esp if you like dribbling. If I want to beat strong opposition, in a system, I know which I'd pick. 😉

Got a lot of slack with the ‘hamburger incident’ in his early years over here but I always believed in him. The talent was clear, he just needed to mature a bit. And I’m so proud he did it over here! Luckily he never lost his ‘playful’ attitude, it made him the player he became and the reason why he was a joy to watch.

So thank you Eden for all these great moments in our beloved blue jersey!

Legend, what else can you say?

Imagine he could be even greater, if he had actually pushed for it.

I think he tried towards the end. That ankle injury killed his momentum.

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has formally announced his retirement from professional football with a statement on social media this morning.

The Belgian has sent an emotional message thanking his former teammates and coaches as he called time on a lengthy and successful playing career that saw him establish himself as one of the finest attacking talents of his generation.

Hazard first rose to prominence as a youngster at Lille, but truly made his name as a world class player at Chelsea, where he played from 2012 to 2019, winning two Premier League titles, two Europa League finals and other major trophies, as well as individual honours such as the PFA Player of the Year in 2014/15.

See below for his full statement from his official Instagram account:

“You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time. After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer.
I was able to realize my dream, I have played and had fun on many pitches around the world.

“During my career I was lucky to meet great managers, coaches and teammates - thank you to everyone for these great times, I will miss you all. I also want to thank the clubs I have played for: LOSC, Chelsea and Real Madrid; and thank the RBFA for my Belgian Selection.

“A special thank you to my family, my friends, my advisors and the people who have been close to me in good times and bad.

“Finally, a huge thank you to you, my fans, who have followed me for all these years and for your encouragement everywhere I have played. Now is the time to enjoy my loved ones and have new experiences.

“See you off the field soon my friends.”
