Wouldn't 18 million AFTER TAX mean that his actual gross salary would be closer to £600k per week? Assuming UK income tax in that bracket is around 50%, I don't if it is more or less. Or do football clubs in general even pay salaries the usual way or is there some arrangement in place to take advantage of all the loopholes

How much is Neymar getting?

If we can give him that money he will take it.

I love Eden and he deserves to get his money but pushing our wage bill that high will come at a long term cost. Bums like Willian will suddenly be able to negotiate for 200k at signing. I understand Hazard is a premium player but surely there is a limit on how high we can go.

I doubt it. The club has been very shrewd in the last 7/8 years with net sale, kit deals and sponsorships. It's hardly gonna bankrupt us and players like Willian asking for huge wages? Don't be silly Hazard is the only real world class player we've had in years (throw Kante, Azpi and Courtois in there too). It's completely understandable and other players will hardly be able to demand the same as him. Kante will get a bumper deal too, it's deserved. The others have a lot to prove to demand anything close to what they'll get.

Its happening at Arsenal right now. Ramsey wants wages on par with Ozil, a bum like Ramsey wants over 300k just because Ozil is somewhere up there.

I didn't realize that it could be 300K after tax, thats a lot lol... But worth doing for Hazard. Get rid of Fabregas (on High wages) to compensate for Hazard.

What about Mourinho rejoining Real, then the "grinning one" can have both his desires, to join Real and play for the "not special any longer one"

What I find really strange is if I read it correct that towards the end of Mou's last season here, they hated each other's guts, let's see if there's any contact between them in the tunnel now.

Because since then they've ignored each other:blink:

Oh and we're going to beat them 2-0 Hazard and Morata

If you see the full interview then you will see he didn't say it randomely, he was asked who he would like to play for again and if you look at the managers he's played for so far it was a given he would say Jose.

I wouldn't underestimate how many half correct or false quotes are going around...

Almost every month someone somewhere posts a comment of Eden himself concerning this topic! Journalists NEED to get news... also if there is none.

I think it's fair to think Eden enjoys his stay at Chelsea => already 6 seasons, which is a LOT as a star player in this football money era! But of course he wouldn't also mind of trying a new club on a higher level. His boyhood dream. Why would it be so strange he's ok with BOTH options?

Granted! but for me it still detracts from the fact he can't stand Mourinho.

Yeah he can do it if he likes, no problem with that.

But I think he is at a crossroad like Lampard.

I remember when Lampard wanted to leave to Inter, but he decided to stay.

Lampard status at Chelsea remain.

I wonder if Hazard thinks about that. Stay here and become a legend, or go to Real Madrid and become another of their many stars.

Legendary vs Elite

Not sure how you can compare Hazard's situation with Lampard's when they are both different. Skeptics will say Lampard used the situation/club to get a better contract but he wanted to leave for Inter because his mother had just passed away and he was having a hard time in his personal life. Hazard clearly wants to go to Madrid but is just keeping his options open with staying in case he gets rejected by Real and is left embarrassed.
