Also, do the English press even care about retaining top talent in the PL? I suppose they don't care because its Chelsea, or they just love getting clicks on their pages...

They're all just parroting some alleged 'quotes' from a single source called 'Voetbal' . When did Voetbal become the know-it-all?

How do you rate Florian Thauvin? I know he had a disastrous spell in England but he has been in tremendous form ever since his move back to France, even managed to get a call-up to the French national squad. He reminds me a bit of Robben tbh, the way he cuts inside from the right to make use of his deadly left peg, also has a great delivery on him.

Not even a small comparison possible with the others mentionned. He has been good this season and was called to join the French national team but according to me he doesn't have the international level. Not a player for Chelsea standard even though he will probably have a decent career ! Not surprised he didn't make it in Newcastle ...

You realize we bought Lukaku, KdB and Courtois along with Hazard, Mata and Christensen.
The board has an eye for potential (or at least trust our scouts well).

I disagree. His ball control doesn't wow me at all. Genuine superstar talent but not because of his ball control.

Can't blame the club for not being able to sign players like Mbappe. When the whole world wants you, it's silly to assume Chelsea can just pick up the player in question.

I would agree with the club placing too much emphasis on the physical rather than the technical when acquiring players though. But that's also linked to the type of managers they appoint.

Maybe I should have said we don't value technique when we get strikers... We place so much emphasis on physicality but we should target both energetic and very technical players. Which is what mbappe is.

You said he's not technically great or his ballcontrol isn't all that, but you will find it hard to get a striker that always runs, energetic and still is as technical as mbappe. (Maybe lewandoski) Energetic strikers like costa are mostly clumsy on the ball but people still use them anyway because their energy and intensity is a nightmare for defenders. But mbappe is as energetic and still puts in crosses like a winger, still dribbles any defender one on one and has a cold blood finish under pressure.

Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I'm going to make this prediction, mbappe is born to be a top 5 world player just like we saw Neymar and hazard at his age.

Unless Eden seriously pushes for the move, there is no way Roman would allow the sale. And I don't think Eden really wants to leave. Just typically Real Madrid media circus stuff really. They might be interested but like I said, unless Eden really, really wants to go. There's no way we'll sell him.

And I don't see what's changed all of a sudden when only recently Hazard said he's happy and settled with his family in London and the Belgian and even English media reported the same thing. I still have my doubts on Hazard staying in the long run but think he deserves more credit for his loyalty for the club.

I'm not so sure... He's come out and said that he wasn't gonna leave after last season and that if he does it will be after winning the title. I feel he may think he's done enough in England and wants a new challenge.

In the end if he leaves, we will have giant job replacing him. There is not a single player available that can replace Eden.

Hopefuly he stays. BUT if there comes day he leaves, the club better fork shit load of money for at least two of Griezmann, Dybala and Bernardo.

That said, here is what I think about Eden and Chelsea. He surely is good enough for Real or Barca. He would be one of best players there IMO. He is also by mile best Chelsea player. But does that mean we should sell him? We are not a selling club. Robben and Ribery were absolute class but they didnt leave Bayern. Same with Aguero at city. We are on verge of second PL title in 3 years, its great achievement. I have no doubt we will do well in europe once we get final pieces to this squad. We pay players well, they live in London and we have amazing manager. We will move to bigger stadium in few years. The project we have is alright.

There is no need for us to bow to Real. All this rumours about Eden leaving shouldnt make fans scared. Because by any means, our board should keep Eden here.

ONLY reason is if Eden pushes for move and that will be only if he is not satisfied with his current life. And with all we can offer, if he still aint happy, then obviously he will leave, but that says alot about our club position too. If we cant keep players like Eden then we are doing something wrong. In that case then every great player will once leave us and join spanish giants. Sure Real is huge prestige and how can you refuse it, but Ribery stated once he is more than happy in Bayern, even before they were so good. His love for the club was bigger than desire to play for more prestigious club.

Its now up to Eden if he likes our club more than prestige of playing for Real.

None of us wants to see him go but these RM links sound different to usual ones.

Theres also 'reports' of Roman saying keep him no matter what.

But can you remember a short time back that 'report' saying Roman offered to buy Naymar but Conte vetod it? That seemed to just come from nowhere didn't it?

But now I'm wondering if this pre contract that Edens asking for is real and Naymar is actually coming to us?

Maybe the Conte veto was just a smokescreen thrown in??

Who the hell knows?

Every sodin summers the same shock.gif
