Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
Having said that it was his first ever World Cup game and you know the pressure is on him to be the talisman. He wasn't great but did do some things that made you remember how talented he is. Judge him on his whole tourney not his first ever game
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
If the shot isn't on Hazard won't take it. He is a smart player and more often than not makes the right choice, taking low-percentage shots will undo all the good work he's done to become the player he is. I'm happy he's not taking 15-20 shots a game to score one goal like a lot of players do in football today.I'm not. dribbling endlessly with no end product doesn't make you a world great, he needs to use his dribbling ability to get into areas to release a shot. kellzfresh
haranr 485
Hazard was the ONLY Belgium player to be marked individually throughout the whole fucking game! So you better calm down!

First half he created a very good chance for Chadli and he also put in a great cross but Lukaku was too busy doing a Torres standing still inside the box. And then in the second half he created the winner. That's end product. Mong630, The Skipper, bluephoenix and 3 others
Weckerz 3,781
He wasn't half bad being double marked against a bus with Belgians ordered to play a slow tempo passing game trying to wear out Algeria. There's only so much you can do alone as a footballer..I'd love to see more drive though, he needs to want the ball more. He has the technique to get into good shooting areas, he needs to be a little more selfish when he gets there. kellzfresh

I just told you dribbling led to a good chance for Chadli that was wasted and an inch-perfect cross that should have resulted in a goal had Lukaku not stood still. Then you flippantly dismiss the creation of THE WINNING GOAL as if he didn't do enough.I don't think he could get into a good shooting area yesterday. Algeria defended very deep and there was virtually no space through the middle. Any shot he would have taken would have been ill-advised. Algeria wanted long-shots; teams that defend deep would rather have the opposition taking speculative shots. sureshot, The Skipper and Madmax
kellzfresh 7,229
02its not double standard, its expectations. or do you expect the same thing from Chadli and Hazard? Hazard was awful. he lost nearly EVERY ball he got, he wasnt going at passes, just waiting for them to come, while an Algerian interrupted (happened multiple times). the assist wasnt to hard to make, as he had plenty of space and room and Mertens made a great run.02 Hazard is the star player of Belgium, so you obviously expect him to make something happen, but he was awful. not only his performance but his attitude. he looked disgusted and annoyed instead of fighting and trying to improve something. he cant cope with aggresive defending against him, also happened multiple times while playing for us. If he wants to be anywhere near Balon D'Or as he self proclaimed, he should get his ass up and prove it. You can play bad, but at least have the right attitude- he nad nothing today and it shocked me. He was awful in the friendships, but you could think thats because he didnt want to injure himself or something, but today was the same thing. He jogged the whole time, wasnt running anywhere, when somebody passed the ball to him he waited for the ball instead of moving towards it etc etc. You have to be a blind Hazard fanboy to describe this performance as anything decent or good, especially if you know about his ablities. Today he was lazy and led his head down, when things didnt go his way and the02 Algerians marked him out massively. De Bruyne bossed the 2nd half when he moved to the pivot, thats what you would expect from Eden for Belgium. Taking control and leading your team instead of hiding.02Also something I dont get is, why at some games, he isnt going at any one on ones anymore. He is so great at it, but instead of trying to beat the opponents player, he passes the ball backwards and relaxes. dont get him at all sometimes. Needs to up his footballing intelligence. You r right in some points but a little harsh in others. I don't think he was that bad against Algeria. There are 3 things hazard doesn't do that should develop his game massively.1. The most important is Hazard should stop dribbling away from the danger area(18box) and should attack pple and force them to run backwards towards their 18box. Robben and reus do this all the time, and it makes them look more dangerous(likely to make things happen) than Hazard. He did this only twice towards the end of the first half against Algeria and it was their most dangerous moment. See robbens goal against Australia and notice how he runs directly into the box without hazards slowing down style. 2. He practically makes no runs off the ball. He should make diagonal runs from the wing to the strike area. He should be raising his hands to show pple where he wants the ball while running there. He is getting too predictable by only wanting to receive the ball to feet IMO.3. When he realizes the defenders are isolating him from his teammates, he should pass quickly and go for the return pass instead of ball hogging the ball too much. These 3 things r his biggest shortcomings and if he gets them right, the world is at his feet IMO. The Skipper and StrategiC
lionsden 4,689
He holds on to the ball far too long, it's always being a feature of his game which works when he's on form but backfires when he's not. It upsets the flow and balance of the team offensively and makes it difficult for his teammates to get the ball in a dangerous positions to score from. That's the main reason why he's one of the most fouled players in Europe. He really needs to work on his decision making in that regard. knowing when a simple link up play and quick release is appropriate and when holding on to the ball is the right thing to do. kellzfresh and Korea

Popular Post! BlueLyon 9,359 Posted June 19, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted June 19, 2014 He already was good vs algeria. I dont know what people understand from term good though... That he will score a hattrick and few assists? Dribble 10 players?Neymar and Robben have different roles in their teams than Hazard. But even they, apart from goals didnt have that big influence. Its world cup and one man wont simply drive team to victory, its team work and Hazard is bigger team player than Neymar or Robben will ever be.I agree Hazard lacks that hunger to score, but its his first world cup, he is young and that will change.
