In recent weeks Hazard has shown signs of the form that lit up the Premier League in 2014/15 and won the Belgian so many individual awards. His goals against Tottenham and Liverpool this month stand out.

‘I preferred the one against Liverpool because it was more like me,’ was his verdict. ‘The goal against Tottenham was beautiful and it gave the title to Leicester so it has a story with it, but I prefer the Liverpool one.’

Dear Eden Hazard: a letter to the fallen Chelsea FC star

This year you have broken my heart. I remember the day where out of nowhere I read on my phone “Chelsea FC sign Eden Hazard” and I couldn’t have been happier. Since then as a Chelsea supporter I have believed in you for every single second of every single match that you have played for our beloved football club.

Even when people lost their faith this year and were upset, I said, “no, Hazard is great, he will be great”. I stand by that today and always will.

Now we have to acknowledge some things before we progress. Making comments about other football clubs is definitely not a smart move. It’s similar to being out to dinner with you wife or girlfriend. You do not want to say, “well that women certainly would be fun to have dinner with”. That’s an excellent way to earn yourself a cocktail shower. Especially when neither one of those football clubs is a better place to play than ours.

I truly believe that when you play for Chelsea football club you’re a member of perhaps not the biggest football club in the world, but absolutely the best one and this is why you should stay.

1. Chelsea FC

“We’re not the biggest but we are the best”. I say that all the time when I’m trying to explain to people why I am a Chelsea supporter. I remember my first football match. It was 15 years ago and it was against Southampton at The Bridge, and we lost.

I remember holding my Dad’s hand as we left the ground and not a single supporter was mad at our guys, because that’s what you are when you play for Chelsea FC, you are one of our guys. Yes, while other clubs might be bigger, there are none who are better and care more for their own players.

The two clubs that are regularly bandied about as potential destinations are Real Madrid and PSG. We are better than both of them without a doubt. At Real Madrid, and I’ll preface this by saying with all due respect, they treat their players like replaceable puzzle pieces, not human beings.

When they don’t see what they want they boo and harass them. Gareth Bale’s car was attacked by his own supporters even though he has scored 20 goals and has 11 assists this year. PSG, meanwhile, seems like a decent club to play for. Paris is indeed a great city, but Ligue 1 is not exactly a great league to play in is it?

You can be a Ballon D’Or winner, Eden. I even believe a multiple time winner. But you won’t do it playing for PSG. Since 1995 (George Weah) no Ballon D’Or winner has played for a French club. It would be a step back for you, that is of course if you think you are at that level.

2. The Premier League

It’s simply the best competition in the world. Leicester City won it this year! That would never happen in another league.

Certainly not in the year-long Bayern Munich crowning ceremony that is the Bundesliga. Absolutely not in Spain either. Atletico Madrid should be celebrated, but the fact that they are the 15th biggest club in the world (according to Forbes) means that the idea they are competitive is not absurd. Then in France PSG won the league so early that I actually almost forgot to include them.

This coming Premier League season will see the best collection of managers, players and drama that any sport anywhere in the world allows us to observe. Antonio Conte (the best of the bunch – I’ll explain that to you another time if you’d like), Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho or Louis Van Gaal (depending on Ed Woodward’s whims), Arsene Wenger, Mauricio Pochettino, Slaven Bilic and the man who deserves more credit than any other, Claudio Ranieri, will all be managing sides in it.

3. London

Dr. Samuel Johnson, one of the most important literary characters in the English language, is quoted as saying “when a man is tired of London he is tired of life”. That is true.

London is a magnificent city and one of the most important in the world. It is such a diverse place that over 200 different languages are spoken on the streets of the capital every single day. The metro area of London has approximately 14 million people in it and it has more open park space than almost any other city in the world. With his young kids, there are few better places for Hazard to be.

4. Hero status

Staying at Stamford Bridge for a number more years (or until you retire) would likely lead to you becoming a hero to all of those who support the royal blue of Chelsea FC. Of course, respective fans would like you at other clubs, you are a top talent, but we are talking about pure unadulterated love here. Hearts and minds man, not just “eh he’s good” and to be loved, isn’t that what everybody wants?

At Chelsea FC you wear the number 10 and deserve through to the end of your career. Any other place would simply feel inferior to Chelsea FC. The first Blues hero I ever had was Gianfranco Zola and he perhaps put it best: “I gave Chelsea supporters what they wanted, a dream, and they gave me what I was dreaming of too”.

With all this said, Eden you should stay at Chelsea. This year has been truly miserable for all involved and I acknowledge that, but if you choose to climb back to the mountaintop with us we will forever be behind you.

I sense that we have been tested by this season and are truly on the verge of something great. Need I remind you, “the greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it” (Moliere). Stay at Stamford Bridge, Eden, and let’s be great together because we can be.

Hazard certainly led with his feet last season, when Chelsea sauntered to the Premier League title.  This season's sauntering wasn't nearly as successful, but Hazard did show signs of life towards the end.  Everyone's hoping he'll carry that into the Euros next month and into next season in August.

He did more nasty things in that game alone!

Costa has never eye gouged anyone, which is extremely dangerous when it comes to eye health and hygiene. Sure he tossed snot, been in someones face (who usually returns the favor) and more. Comparing his antics that don't really hurt anyone (maybe Gabriel lol) to doing something, that can limit your eyesight for life, is lunacy!

He pushed Koscielny and accidentally stamped on Skrtel, both went on to carry on with the game without complaint. I'm not sure you realize the dangers of gouging ones eye in an aggressive fashion.
