I don’t thinkĀ Hazard is prolific enoughĀ in Real Madrid’s eyes to warrant the price tag that we’ll slap on him, but he’s desperate for a move so it gets awkward for both parties. Is there middle ground? I would be disappointed if we didn’t get around Ā£100m plusĀ for him, especially when you consider he’s running down his contract, but would Real Madrid cough up that much?Ā In my opinion, there are better options out there for themĀ than spending that type of money on Hazard.

Hazard talking about Real Madrid at every opportunity is a funny one as well. It seems like he’s doing itĀ to invite offers, but I get the feeling none are coming through, which is why he’s doing it repeatedly. It’s coming across as a desperate ā€œcome get meā€ plea, but Real are sitting on their hands. I could be wrong though. MaybeĀ Real Madrid have told him to do it to lessen his value and condition Chelsea to the fact he wants out. Either way, it’s an ugly tactic and you just get the feeling that Chelsea and Hazard areĀ not going to end on good terms if he leaves.

I hope you are wrong but alot of what you are saying wrings the bells of sense.Ā

I think you're forgetting Chelsea fans also booed Hazard (and Fabregas and Costa). Madrid fans are the most fickle but let's face it all fans areĀ fickle.Ā

How are the two even comparable? Madrid fans booĀ their players almost on a weekly basis and that despite whatever they have achieved for the club. That scenario with us, was done only by a small group of Chelsea fans and that was a reaction to Mourinho's sacking, which we were right to sack him and those fans' reaction was silly.

Just take a look at how Chelsea fans are talking about him now vs Ā the beginning of the season when he was in top form.Ā

I know what you're trying to get at but those examples are terrible. Clockwork and Sideshow Luiz are just resigned to losing Hazard, which I think deep down, we all have been feeling the same for some time now. That's different from actually criticizing him, is it?

I compared them because you act like we don't have fickle fans. Like i said Madrid fans are definitely worse but that doesn't mean we don't have fickle fans of our own. Modern day fans are just fickle in general.Ā

Ā

I think you misunderstoodĀ me. The "take a look ..." part wasn't directed at Clockwork and Sideshow. I quoted them because they were talking about the club needing to show ambition to which i repliedĀ " we had 7 years to show ambition ...".

Ā

I was referring to, in the last few pages, Hazard being called a little cunt, told to fuck off, belittling him in favour of Salah. You can say it's because people are coming to terms with the fact he's leaving but it still proofs people are fickle because they wouldn't talk about him that way if he was still in the form he was in at the beginning of the season.Ā

Where did I imply that we don't have fickle fans? There are PLENTY on Twitter, for example. Was merely pointing out that things aren't gonna be great with Madrid fans if/when Hazard moves there.Ā

Nothing new and Hazard himself is probably aware of the fickle Madrid fans but Isco got booed by them in the CSKA match earlier. Hazard better be careful of what he wish for...

look no further than big nose between the sticks for them

He can do whatever he wants but I will not be surprised if he ends up being disappointed at his time in Madrid.Ā

At Madrid he will just be another player, here he will go down as a legend.Ā

I wonder if he ponders this?Ā

Always a couple quality players short.

I don't blame him for wanting to leave, at all.Ā  He joined us as we needed to start overhauling the squad, but we haven't really done enough or brought in the right quality.Ā Ā

I think there are just some crossed wires here.Ā  I certainly didn't get the impression that @BelgiannuttĀ was calling me fickle.Ā  I read it as 2 separate discussions within 1 post.Ā  But you're definitely correct on my reading, I'm resigned to losing him.Ā  Which relates to this:

Yup, we've really done nothing.Ā  When I say "there's not much else the club can do", I meant this season.Ā  What could possibly change between now and the end of the season that would change Hazard's mind, or sway him in our direction if he's really on the fence?Ā  From our position, there's really nothing, short of hoping that Madrid sign Neymar, and Eden not wanting to play second fiddle.

I agree with the general sentiment that's out there, that the grass in Madrid may not be as green as it looks.Ā  But, if it's been his childhood dream, and it has a chance to happen, I can't blame him.Ā  I think he does love the club (Chelsea), and I'd hate to see fans turn on him if he wants to leave.Ā  He's got 1 life and 1 career and he has a rare opportunity to realize a childhood ambition.Ā  We've signed a lot of players away from other clubs, and it goes both ways.Ā  As much as no one wants to think of themselves as a "small" or "selling" club, when Madrid or Barca come calling everyone is a "selling club".Ā  Even Utd, at their peak, couldn't keep Ronaldo from Madrid.Ā  I also agree that he needs to stop talking about it.Ā Ā

For the record:

I think Hazard is gone.Ā  I love to see him in full flight.Ā  Maybe my favourite sight in football.Ā  I don't blame him for wanting to go to Madrid, if it's always been a dream for him.Ā  Especially when you consider that we're not challenging for the CL anymore.Ā  I also think that he wants Madrid more than they want him.Ā  Personally, I think Neymar makes more sense for them and I think they want him more.Ā  But, that's really neither here nor there.Ā

But, we're still Chelsea, we were before he came.Ā  And when he came, he wasn't Eden Hazard yet.Ā  He had a lot of promise.Ā  I'd say that the most worrying thing about him leaving is trusting the board to get the right players in with the fees.Ā  We're not going to find a direct replacement.Ā  He's too good.Ā  Can the board get the right youngster in (do we have him with CHO)?Ā  It's not outside the real of possibility that the board replace him with someone who's "Drinkwater-esque".Ā  Which is the really frightening proposition.

Look at the way courtios ending up the real madrid fans have turn on him The same thing could happen to Hazard the real fans can turn on you quick if don't impress themĀ

+ it is not that Real Madrid are not in transtition too. they are in a phase were they are way behind barcelona who are not at their best either. i dont think that real will win the cl during hazards remaining career either so he can just as well stay here.Ā

Hazard would LOVE to go to Real and be the saviour (along with Icardi)

They buyĀ de Ligt too and de Jong and BOOM

They also HAVE to have a WC manager, who I cogitate will be Conte orĀ AllegriĀ

But its not gonna work like that. Hazard is not the leader type who will bring them to cl glory instantly. De ligt and de jing are still not finished products. This would still be a transition and hazard is running out of time.Ā

I'm sure thats what every single one of us feel about him mate.

But the days that he does this are few. He just cant seem to keep his form.

Ā

I laughed when there was all that chatter about the 40 goals in a season. Hes just not a goal scorer.

I thought at the start of the season that everything was going to be alright as Bob tells us. He was looking like he really meant business. He wasn't his usual bouncy cheeky chappy but I thought maybe the captainship of Belgium had give him a new sense of maturity and comitment.

But he soooooo pisses me off and more each time he opens his mouth about whatever team he can pick.

Ā

I said 2 seasons ago we should capitalize on him and put it to buying some players with that grit and urgency to find the goal. But I don't think I see us getting £100mill for him. I see RM trying to do some player swap and our board accepting it.

Ā

IMHO we have lost better players han him before and no doubt will again in the future. I just hope we manage to get a fill in who stays with us as long as Eden.

This is the Eden I want to remember

Chelsea news: Real Madrid plot fresh Eden Hazard swap deal to get rid of ā€˜problem’ player

Just to leave my 2 cents in case my position has not been clear enough.

If the "fickle" term was directed at me, then I could not disagree more. I've watched Hazard play for a very long time and my opinion of him has not changed: great player and at the same time overrated by chelsea, and especially Belgium fans.

Saying that Salah is the better player is merely stating one's opinion, and not a very controversial one outside of TC.

On a professionalĀ level, I don't care for Eden very much. He disrespects the club every time he offers himself to RM (that's what agents are for!), which happens quite often. So, for me it is definitely a "fuck off!"

While I wish we could have retained Hazard, because it's never easy to replace great players, I agree with @UnionjackĀ that that ship has sailed, and we should've already cashed out on him.

Club is much much bigger than ANY player.

ā€œWe will see, it'll be up to me to make the decision."

Implying that there is concrete interest and it is all in his hands now? Why would he say that otherwise I wonder... Anyway, he's already made his decision I'm afraid, he just doesn't want to anger the club and fans by saying outright that he'll fuck off unless there is some force majeure stopping it. But please just shut up and concentrate on your football, stop tarnishing your legacy with subpar performances and whoring to outside buyers.

Am gonna laugh if after all this 'come and sign me' pleas and Real are still not bothered to sign Hazard.
