Conte hopes Chelsea's 'great ambition' will keep Hazard away from Real Madrid

Conte thinks he could improve his strike rate to become an even more sought-after attacker.

“He could score more. If you see the stats, you understand that he can score more goals. That is an aspect he can improve,” Conte said, “When you are a striker, or a No.10, your speciality must be to score.

"I think in this aspect he has a lot of space for improvement. But don't forget he's younger than [Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo]."

Chelsea intend to resume contract talks with Eden Hazard in the new year aimed at extending his stay at Stamford Bridge but the player is apparently in no rush to commit his future while it is unclear whether Real Madrid will prioritise his signing this summer.

Hazard, who does not operate with an agent, is contracted to 2020 but, with a new deal first mooted towards the end of last season, has held discussions with the Chelsea hierarchy over an extension on improved terms. No formal offer has been made despite claims to the contrary by Hazard’s father, Thierry, to the Belgian newspaper Le Soir. Hazard senior suggested his son had rejected an offer while he awaits an indication from the Bernabéu whether their long-standing interest is likely to prompt a bid.

Chelsea have no intention of losing the Belgian international and are confident he will eventually sign a new deal. They are close to securing his compatriot, Thibaut Courtois, to a new five-year contract which will make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in the Premier League, and will follow that up with a firm contract proposal to Hazard next month.

While i understand the logic you're using i don't think it applies to Hazard because of how efficient he is with the ball.

It's true that a club can only divide a certain number of goals and assists to all the attacking players but we're not talking about a player who takes 150 shots a season, scores 30 + goals a season and "wastes" the ball a lot.

Last season he scored 16 goals but he only took 77 shots. Hazard rarely "wastes" possession. Even when taking on players he has an extremely high success rate. Last season he had a 78% success rate. This season halfway through the season he has an 80 % success rate.

So his take on the overall collective pool is small. I just don't see in what part of Hazard's game he'd have to cut back on if he moved to a more attacking side.

Also you're forgetting that a more attacking team will score more goals, so more goals and assists to spread  to the attacking players.

"when a top side really wants a player they ultimately get him."  Disagree. If a player really doesn't want to move then there isn't anything a club can do.

Seems like Hazard only wants to go to Real or stay here. He didn't want to go to PSG so he didn't go.

It's not in his personality to forcibly push for a move. He wants to enjoy his football. He doesn't want any kind of drama off the pitch.

I feel you are making good points that are slightly contradictory.

you claims he’s cool and enjoying his football, but at the same time you claim he’s right up there with Ronaldo even mentioning Ronaldo’s drive as something hazard lacks. That I cannot agree with.

hazard in my view lacks creativity esp with the final pass, the assist. I could put money on that his stats would go lower at real esp goals.

no I disagree - they score a bit more goals and it’s mostly due to how terrible the opposition are. Tough games it’s all he same to me.

Wonder if he will get any 'special' treatment from the fans tomorrow. Don't think it'll be anything vile but might be interesting to see.

Chelsea matchgoers seem quite apathetic towards Hazard anyway. They're not particularly vocally supportive of him, in comparison to someone like Willian, say. Our most talented ever player, hardly treated like such by the home crowd.

Sorry but i don't really understand the second sentence.

I did claim he was enjoying his football. I don't believe i've mentioned Hazard being up there with Ronaldo ?

We' ll have to agree to disagree on that.

Our home support is really just weird, no disrespect. Still remember Torres got tons of support even though he's always shit. Better players have gotten worse treatment than that.

With ZZ just resigning a 3 year contract and after the Barca loss you would think with CR on hi last legs they are looking to build for the future.

What I was wondering before he resigned was whether roman was looking at gim coming here. I think Eden would have been happy with that and thought ZZ would have loved to go up against the top PL managers. Or does he love being in charge of argueably the biggest club there is,

Even IF the reports of RM wanting Kane as top priority is true theres also Barca and PSG that can easily persuade Eden.

Theres alot of big IF's in this.

As a long time ticket holder you're right about us giving some strange receptions to players. And I've had many heated rows with 'supporters' around me when theyve been very vocal about lads un necessarily IMHO.

But I dont know whether its a Belgian thing as a country or what but Ive never felt a strong love for us from either Eden nor Tibo. Alot of others around my area feel similar.Whether its just me not seeing it or their characters are just like that. I know it shouldn't matter as long as they give their best but seeing a players love for the badge gives supporters encouragement and gives the players more love in return.

Maybe I'm over complicating it.

Yeah that (that bit that was cut short) pertained attacking sides and number of goals scored... I think it has more to do with the league than anything else, but like you said, we disagree.

we may have a slight disagreement on where hazard stand, as I seem to rate him a a bit lower than you and others around here do. Not really sure he’s better than coutinho for example, and I am not a fan of coutinho. Given a choice right now and I’d pick kdb over him, again personal preference (vision >>> dribbling). Perhaps because I’m originally from Brazil and dribblers are a dime-a-dozen there.

On the contract situation, I say sell him for a very high sum sooner rather than later... don’t do another Sanchez. If the club cannot replace him with another key player or, at least 2 quality players, then it’s anither issue altogether.

get attached to players at your own peril... it’s a very short career and they ultimately make decisions solely based on money. If you are a hazard fan first, fine, but as a chelsea fan, life goes on just fine.

I'm sorry, but that is just ridiculous.

Everyone can have an opinion, but that is just clearly wrong. There is a reason he has won player of the year awards at his clubs and the leagues he has played in. There is a reason he is the one talked about as the stand out player in the league on the most consistent basis by former players. There is a reason, as stupid as it is, that he is the highest rated FIFA player in the EPL.

Everyone, from former players, the media, award voters, pundits, and even computer game developers consider him the best in the premier league. That doesn't collectively happen by mistake.

CHELSEA are unlikely to lose Eden Hazard to Real Madrid as club president Florentino Perez remains unconvinced of his talents.

I see, well like you say personal preference. For me it's dribbling >>> vision.

Would agree with you on that. I don't really see the point in forcing him to stay and have him run down his contract and have an unhappy player in the squad.

Silly from Arsenal about Sanchez.

Even if we get say 150 million for Hazard who are we gonna spend it on ? I don't see a realistic target that could replace Hazard.

Also we're likely going to run into the same problem Barcelona did when they tried to replace Neymar. Everyone knows you've gotten a ton of money so the prices are gonna go up when we come calling.

So getting 2 quality players for that money will be difficult.

I don't think hazard's reason for wanting to go to Real have much to do with money. Witht he way he idolizes Zidane. Playing for Real is likely a childhood wish/dream for him.

Besides that Real Madrid is still generally considered the absolute top of world football. It has a pull that isn't comparable to any other club.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Marca this evening, La Liga giants Real Madrid have given up on their chase of Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard.

courtesy of Marca this evening, it is now being claimed that European champions Real have in fact ‘abandoned’ their pursuit of Hazard, in favour of developing youngster Marco Asensio.
