BlueLyon 9,359
I wouldnt be surprised if the board forced him to leave if offer of ~80m would come even if he wanted to stay. The board makes some absolute bullshit decisions lately and they would rather get that money than keep a great player like Eden. And probably replace him with someone bang average and overpriced. Hopefuly he stays tho. King11Didier

LDN Blue 7,903
Like how he's being eased back in. As I said before, need him in his prime for for PSG. Still got games two games before and the one coming is another heavyweight. Go on Eden!

LDN Blue 7,903
I like that Drogba support he speaks of, hopefully the club will get him back to mentor Hazard once again. BlueLyon 9,359
Chelsea...the only club that benches best player after he hits bad form, while the likes of Iva never get benched. I know he had injury, but he could easily start vs United.

Super interesting read. “This is the first time this has happened to me, but it was always going to happen at some stage. You have to learn from it. I’m a human being, not a machine. I’ve been a professional since I was 16, so maybe that has had an influence too.” By the time Hazard turned 25 last month he had already played 446 senior games for clubs and country. Lionel Messi had 431 to his name at that age, and Cristiano Ronaldo 407. When the Belgian limped off with a groin strain at Crystal Palace four days before his birthday, he had mustered 186 appearances in three years. His workload has been onerous. Surprised no one has picked this bit up... The prospect of missing out on the Champions League next term would normally be abhorrent, particularly for a player whose decision to reject other suitors and move to Stamford Bridge four years ago was sealed when Roberto di Matteo’s sixth-placed side claimed the trophy in Munich and guaranteed further involvement. But, when you languish 16 points off the top four with 14 games to play, reality kicks in. So could he cope with a season-long absence from the competition now? “When you’re used to playing every year in the Champions League, then yes. Even if missing out for a year, for for the club, would be difficult. Financially. “Playing in the Champions League was important to me. So, if Chelsea hadn’t won it, I doubt I would have signed. But, this year, we’ll be where we deserve to be. If we’re not in the Champions League, we’ll not have deserved to be in it. We’ll not have done enough to make the top four. You can eat away at 10 or 11 points very quickly, but it’s easier if you still have 30 matches to play. We only have 14 so I think the Premier League is finished. So we’ll have to win [the European Cup] to qualify. Why not? Look at 2012. That’s why I always say we have to target the Champions League.”
manpe 10,861
Anyway, I think it's pretty clear from that interview that physical and mental exhaustion has caught up with him.

But if we don't get into it for next season, he can cope without it for a year because we haven't done well to qualify. mediator

Its easy to say this in an interview, but at the end of the season i would be surprised if he sticks to his word and stays at Chelsea if Real come in for him. I would be ecstatic if he stays loyal to us, but his words in an interview mean nothing to me. Who would you like to bring in to replace him if he leaves? Griezmann?
