Well done mate. Hiding behind a single stat to press your argument. You should be proud. I thought i was in a rational debate here.

well, here's some stat for you. Under di matteo we had only 1 game(CL) where we had more possession (4-1 napoli) AND we had lesser possession in the 5-1 win over Spurs as well (according to BBC). Your argument doesn't really hold when our possession stat is helped by home games against Genk and Leverkusen back in September/October

only issue here is that possession doesn't equal wins.

it's how effectively you attack when you have the ball. we will inevitably have more possession next season against weak teams in the premier league. but in the champions league, defensive shape is more important.look at what bilbao did to united, united are used to having possession and when they didn't they were baffled and outclassed. de matteo hardly if ever got anything wrong tactically last season and against cultured players if you don't keep your shape- you will suffer. in the champions league, that has to be the priority.

in the premier league, we will have more possession- because we have better players in the final third now.

mata, hazard, marin, bruyne, benayoun, ramires and hulk/moses all offer better qualities and more inventive qualities (ramires aside) then kalou and malouda and that's going to automatically push us further up the pitch because the current players have more invention and ability.

di matteo was spot on in using the Deep 4-2-3-1 tactics last season but I really hope he changes it for this campaign. other wise we will be drawing way too many games just like liverpoop last year

hulk! we need hulk!

just makes so much sense to get the guy. he completes the package really!

i was having this debate with a friend of mine about hulk, he went on about how hulk was rubbish against city, i argued that a player like hulk is more crucial in winning the league because of his consistency and his ability to bully weak teams. he's the kind of weapon you need to win the league. consistent, goal scorer and has so many attributes. pace, strength, free kicks, long rangers...etc..etc and a player of that much ability will often get marked out in big games but then out of frustration in big games, he will do sth like this

4-2-3-1 is solid which is what we want, difference being instead of a front 4 of Mata, Ramires, Kalou and generally in the premierleague Torres, it will/could be Mata Hazard Hulk and Torres. Which is much better attack. Also when you consider against weaker teams, we will probably have ramires in the midfield aswell. You cant always blame the tactics. Would you rather play a 4-4-2 and hav players where they dont like. Mata would be less effective and Hazard wouldn't be as far up the field as we would want him to be. I hope we do play 4-2-3-1, as if puts players where they want to play in the most part.

my problem with the current 4-2-3-1 is that we are sitting too deep even against the likes of wigan. otherwise this could be a good attacking tactic but the double pivot should be further up the field, not in front of the back four

€38 million would be reasonable and better than £38 million. Hope we get him in soon. I'm tired of waiting.

i would go as far as giving them raul meireles or essien + 30 mil for Hulk

It depends the approach we chose, at the end of the season in Premier League Di Matteo chosed an approach where he'd wait the adverse team to make a mistake, we weren't looking for scoring the first goal.

But otherwise that's right that with our offensive full backs, one of the two players of the double pivot has to stay quite deep. But in fact Germany use this tactic and when they have the ball it looks like a 4-1-4-1 with Özil somewhere between the lines and Kledira somewhere in support depending of where the ball is, ready to make a late run into the box

yep. with Hulk on the right and Hazard on the left we have to push forward more. something like Germany's system although it will be hard to emulate

Yeah i would take that. I wouldn't mind not getting Hulk and we will just have Ozil instead. I hear he has some skills.

Hulk will definitely come to Chelsea.

Forget all speculation , twitter rumors.

Roman has proven again and again, that when he wants players, he keeps bidding till he gets them. Torres, Modric are prime examples. We didnt get modric cuz levy is an ass, but Porto have to please their shareholders, so they will sell at the right price.

The problem is that while any other club would have bid and negotiated, there would have been a possibility of getting the deal done at about 32 mill.

But Roman is a victim of his own past actions, and Porto will be looking at the Modric Saga last year knowing that we are not a no nonsense club.....and our owner has billions....and likes spending them.

This line up has me salivating as much as that shot of Megan Fox bending over that car hood in Transformers.

Hazard-----Torres----Hulk

-----------Mata

--Lampard---Ramires

That is some serious firepower, with Marko Marin (and maybe De Bruyne) still able to come on.

Mata's good but I don't know if he can make copies of himself.
