Duppy Conqueror 1,537
We need a new CB so we sell our best one. Makes senseIt's extremely debatable between him being our best CB ,our worst defender or not even a defender at all but a DM ...like most who have said they would accept the bid including myself the fee of 45m would have a lot to do with it. Irakozium257 350
I don't want to sell him at all costs! How can you seriously consider selling him right away when he's that glowing light that keeps getting brighter?? I admit that he has made some mistakes but the guy is getting better and better, even if it isn't ostentatious at first sight.I love David and I'm always behind him because I know for sure that the magic in him comes both when you least expect it and when you see him rolling. Duppy Conqueror 1,537
" The magic comes when you least expect" not exactly something I've heard to describe any great centerback that just can't be sold at any price.

Popular Post! BlueLion. 21,491 Posted June 16, 2013 Popular Post! Share Posted June 16, 2013 Luiz is a superb footballer, and that is his problem - he tends to overthink things, and relies on his skill to get out of danger. It can work most times, but he will be remembered for the times he fucks up, rather than the times he flicks the ball over an attacker's head and dribbles past a couple more guys, like he did against Nordsjaelland when we won 6-1 at the Bridge in December. He is an average centre-back. I say average, and by that, I mean average for a "big" club. He is no better or worse overall than the likes of Agger, Koscielny, Dawson, etc. He has some wonderful qualities but he is let down by his mental strength - his concentration is absolutely horrendous and his decision-making is questionable. I much prefer Cahill's style of kick-the-fucking-thing-away.People like him in midfield because he can express his attacking qualities and you can excuse the odd defensive slip-up because there are defenders behind who can cover for him. But the fact of the matter is we spent £25 million plus Matic, who is now supposedly worth £35 million, on a centre-back who can't defend very well, so we put him in midfield to disguise that fact. Of course he has had some absolutely immense games at the back for us, but the amount of times he's given balls away or played stupid passes and given the ball away is obscene. He's just lucky we have the likes of Cahill, Cole and Ivanovic alongside him, who are all exceptional on the recovery challenge, and Cech, who is probably the best goalkeeper in the world one-on-one - meaning he gets away with. My concern is he is going to do something horrendously stupid in a big game, and it is going to cost us silverware. Then, and only then, will people realise he is haphazard, and on the whole not good enough to be the first-choice defender at this club. His style of play is brilliant against weak teams who will give him the time and space, but against a team like Manchester City which has a freakishly-high work-rate and every midfielder will harass you when you have the ball he will be exposed. If the money is right, we should sell him. This team can score goals, but it can't keep them out anymore. The way you address that is to add some concrete to a relatively flimsy defence. Luiz offers so much in an attacking sense, especially in his long passing, but I personally feel that if a big bid comes in from Barcelona, Monaco, PSG or any other European moneybags club, we should seriously consider a sale. We might lose some attacking potency, but if we sell him for some of the prices I've seen quoted, that money can go towards a proper defender. We have rebuilt the attack of this team to an incredible degree yet the same - ageing - names are on the team-sheet at the back. Time to invest in some uncompromising defensive talent, and Luiz has to make way for that to occur. chelseathebest 150
I believe Luiz is a bit overrated on here.He is not a bad footballer, but he is also not a world-class.I've noticed that there are a lot of Luiz fans out there, same as with Torres. killer1257 and haranr
Jase 43,479
Looking at what Luiz has been saying regarding all this rumours/stories, it sounds as if he's trying to keep his options open. Has given diplomatic responses and not attempting to quash those rumours like Mata did recently.

haranr 485
Silva is so much better than Luiz at CB. If PSG want to get a good CB they shouldn't go to Luiz. There are other better CBs in the market right now. For me Luiz isn't that good at the back but whatever.
