gary gordon 1,777
Drogba playing on the wing.... can he even play there?? Just from a positional view. I would imagine him playing more central and having David Luiz coming forward as a winger like Ash..
Swoopz 183
This is just nuts! David23Luiz 9
Hello mates. First time posting here. I'll just say I'm a huge Benfiquista (Benfica fan) and I'm absolutely gutted to see David Luiz leave my club. I knew David Luiz's days at Benfica were numbered, but I would've preferred him to leave in the summer. Oh well at least Benfica got some nice cash for him. Anyways for those who don't know much about David Luiz here's a run down from a fan who's been watching him play the last four years... David Luiz is by no means overrated. I mean he won the best player in the Portuguese League last season, captained our side in a few games even though his still 23, and his been getting call-ups, as well as, starts for the Brazilian NT. Since his been in Benfica his always been a rock for us at the back. His really a strong, physical player who rarely misses a beat. He knows how to defend and position himself well at the back, his distribution from the back is good, and can pop in some goals here and there off a set piece. I would compare him to a Ricardo Carvalho little bit. I remember when he first signed with us and began playing a few games a lot of fans were saying his playing style is similar to R.Carvalho. You guys surely won't be disappointed. Just don't expect him to hit the ground running because as you know its always tough for a player to join a new team in a new country especially during the middle of the season. However, come to think of it he did join Benfica during the middle of the season in 2007 and adapted really quickly to the Portuguese game, but I feel he will need a bit more time with you guys because lets face it playing for a team like Chelsea in the best Football league in the world is real different then playing for Benfica in the Portuguese League. My only advice to you Chelsea fans is don't play him at left-back lol. Some reports say he can play on the left side when needed, but he will suck for you at that position. His better off and more comfortable as a central defender. With that said I wish nothing, but the best for my former hero. Enjoy him and hopefully once his contract runs out he'll come back to his true home Forca David Luiz!!!

David23Luiz 9
Welcome to our forums mate and thanks for the useful information Is it true Luiz can play on the right of defence as well? I've read some papers say so.Those papers must be BS mate lol. In Benfica I've only seen David Luiz play as a central defender, left-back, and one time defensive midfielder. My recommendation is just play him in his natural center back position. Like I said in my previous post his much more comfortable and suited for that position. termninja 5,290
Just to clear one thing, Luiz is a CB who can play as a LB, like a reverse Ivanovic. I don't think he can play as RB too well. I just got up and I still can't believe last night!

I just got up and I still can't believe last night!he played one whole season with quique flores at LB and he was just a average player. last season he was CB again and played very well. of course you can put him as a LB or RB but like that you payed 25million for a average LB when he is a very good CB. Clevemayer 764
Luiz, for me, is the far far better signing, OK Torres is a superb Striker on his prime but like we've often said, he is pretty injury prone, Luiz on the other hand did cost the half of him (25 Mio.) and is the most exciting defender prospect, may be in the whole world, if we could get ou're hands on Mats Hummels from Dotrmung we would've a wonderful CB-Pair for the future, very much like Terry and Riccy when they played together. It has gone a bit under, after we've signed torres, but this delights me because we can see ivanovic moveing back on RB now, whilst luiz plays with terry and on the left side we've ash a wonderfull thinking... may be ash is a bit overplayed but with bertrand back, haveing played 140 Games of 1st Team football and the far better LB than PvA, another step in the right direction, I think this will be our feature backfourBane--------Luiz----Bruma(may be Hummels? )----Bertrandabsolutly delighted... Peace. 4,352
Two days ago I was so angry toward Gourlay, I thought he was the biggest incompetent cunt in the english football.... But i gotta admit, yesterday he showed me wrong, and in a beautiful way ! He has made a great deal there ! Though, I still am a bit bitter toward him, about Wilkins
Gianfranco_Z 202
I have yet to see David Luiz play.I think it will take him a while to adjust. (I remember when Vidic and Evra signed for Man Utd they were shit when they first came, both got roasted in the 3-1 loss to Man City) I give him a while to get used to it, but I suppose whilst Alex is out he will slot into his spot with Ivanovic moving to Right Back.Definitely looking forwards to seeing him play though
