Abramovich's spokesperson said: "Abramovich was contacted by the Ukrainian side for support in achieving a peaceful resolution, and that he has been trying to help ever since."

Considering what is at stake, we would ask for your understanding as to why we have not commented on neither the situation as such nor his involvement. Thank you."

Ukrainian film director and producer Alexander Rodnyansky also confirmed Abramovich's involvement, insisting the Chelsea owner was the only person to respond to calls for help.

Rodnyansky has claimed that representatives from Ukraine's government have expressed gratitude for Abramovich's attempts at help.

"I can confirm that the Ukrainian side have been trying to find someone in Russia willing to help them in finding a peaceful resolution," said Rodnyansky.

They are connected to Roman Abramovich through the Jewish community and reached out to him for help.

"Roman Abramovich has been trying to mobilize support for a peaceful resolution ever since. Although Roman Abramovich's influence is limited, he is the only one who responded and taken it upon himself to try.

"If this will have an impact or not, I don't know, but I am in contact with Zelensky's staff myself, and know that they are grateful for his genuine effors."

If that's true he better check every cup of tea he has from now on

The real reason for Ukraine is that Putin is afraid of losing his republics.
Those putin republics are copies of the "tehero blanco" regimes of South America in the sixties-seventies.
He managed to salvage Belarus with the election fraud, then Kazhakstan with the commandoes he sent there.
Now he's after Ukraine to prevent further westernization.

Abramovitch has loose connection but it's doubtful he has any interests in any of this. He is not prepared to join the resistance to Putin but what's in it for him to support the Putin plans ?
It looks like a case of Nana Mouskouris and the Papadopoulos regime of Greece. The great diva did n't want to have anything to do with politics -something Theodorakis did n't like at all- but she was not related to the regime.

The biggest Putin supporter was Trump.
Then brexit. The "best" of brexit plans was the dissolution of the EU so western Europe is divided into small bickering nations. Not much Boris could do to affect this but that's what they wanted.

Unfortunately he might have to sell us for everyone own good the way this is going, hope Ukraine and Russia get to some common grounds soon.

He likely has to sell or we are fucked. It really is becoming that simple.

Chelsea: Roman Abramovich involvement at club could see them become toxic brand for investors, says sports branding expert

Ben Peppi, head of sports services at JMW solicitors, tells Sky Sports News: "There'll be new sponsors who look at Chelsea and go 'if the ownership is still in the hands of Mr Abramovich, we don't want a part of it'. It doesn't send the right message out morally, ethically, socially"
