LDN Blue 7,903
Once City fans realise we're going to be title-rivals again, hopefully next season, Cap, you will see a complete different change in attitude from these guys.
Badboy 1,526
We won the league with Gallas, Terry, Lampard and Eidur Gudjohnsen who all played a pivotal role in us winning the league by a long stretch, we were already a fantastic team before Roman arrived. Manchester City bought a shit load of players during the Thaxin Shinawatra era and then they spent a bucket load since Mansour has arrived and they only won it on goal difference. The way we did it and the way Man City did it was totally different, the core of the Chelsea team was always there except Drogba/ Makalele but Eidur played just as many games as Drogba in his first season in the League. Strike 7,491
They wouldn't feel that way in our position, and the tables were turned. Plus they're on a high from their first league win in 44 years.Fair point. I hadn't considered the situation reversed

But to me another major difference is that City can't say they have someone who's "City through and through", whereas Chelsea can say that they have Lampard and Terry who have been there for ages. This lends the team its character, I feel.
capriccioso 2,545
Right. Obviously they had fairly rubbish players until Thaksin bought them out, and he went about changing that.Hart can be compared to Lampard, as he's been there 6 years now, Lampard had 'only' been here 3 years when we first won the PL. Richards came through the academy so he can be compared to Terry in terms of spending ages at the club. There are no Gudjohnsen, Gallas like figures who have been at the club several years prior to the takeover. Perhaps Zabaleta.

Its not exactly the longevity, but more of what they represent to the club as a whole, defining its playing style, etc.Hart, I can agree with. Richards is not exactly a mainstay like Terry. Badboy 1,526
Hart can not be compared to Lampard because he was bought during the Thaxin years, Zabaleta was bought in 2008 when Mansour took over. They only have Richards as someone recognised as a player who played for them before billionaires arrived whether it was Thaxin or Mansour. They bought their captain too, the captain of our club arrived through the academy.
Spike 12,049
Technically we should hate all clubs besides Linfield, Rangers and possibly Hamburg. The 'Blues Brothers' or some shit.

Tomo 21,751
We would exist. If Gronkjaer never scored that goal that qualified us for the Champions League then we'd be nonexistent.A draw would have been enough in that match so Gronkjear's goal wasn't the "winner" in the CL qualification respect Desailly's header was. westcountryblue 25
Haha wow, very decent of them! Fair play to them though, but i fear that they may dominate for a while, but at least we won the Champions League before them!!
Ollie 4,400
Transfers in 2003:Glen JohnsonGeremiWayne BridgeDamien DuffJoe ColeJuan Sebastian VeronAdrian MutuAlexei SmertinClaude MakeleleScott ParkerTotal spending: 121,000,000; excluding 3 free transfers. If that's not changing the squad at all, I don't know what is. That's virtually an entire team we bought:Ambrosio (free transferred GK)Johnson- CB-CB- BridgeVeron-Makelele-ParkerCole-Mutu-DuffWe could have lined up like that for a game and still had Smertin and Geremi on the bench. With the exception of Veron, who were even known as world class or superstars? None. We overhauled the squad no differently than all teams do. We just paid a bit over the top lol. Man City filled their squad with superstars and spent way more. I don't hate them tho... (yet).
