When the CL change was announced, people said, "If it ain't broke," but I have to admit, it's been a breath of new air thus far. It implies that every game counts, and you don't have to worry about aggregate ties ending 10+.

If anyone watched the two games they won, you'd know they were lucky to have no lost them as well.

AC Milan has been so erratic in Serie A but they just bullied Real

Fonseca might give Leao a few more starts. He's a promising player. 😄

How was it not broke? Groups were pretty much pointless, one could 95% predict which two teams will surpass, very few surprise. New system is not perfect, but definetly shake things up perfectly.

However, old truth will stick by: you don't win the CL in the autumn. Real Madrid seems poor now, but they are still very likely to go through, and February is long away. You have to peak when important games come, and Real Madrid is definetly a team who are able to manage timing of top form.

Real Madrid troubles are older than sin itself.

the technical term is too much of a good thing.

thats what happens when you have 2 LW's who are automatic starters every game and no balance in midfield.

they only won the UCL last season because they beat Bayern by a marginal VAR goal and then Dortmund collapsed in the final when it mattered most.

If they win it this season, it will just prove how poor the rest of the European teams are.

Change isn't welcomed by people, that's why.

Madrid's defence isn't going to magically transform itself, so they'll be vulnerable defensively at any point. Their saving grace is that Bellingham and Mbappe can't get much worse. The former has been dire since the CL final.

We can always highlight such moments, but they won 6 out of last 10, which is not accidental. They have plenty of winner type players and coach, they certainly know the recipe. Of course you cannot always win it, but I can totally see them turning they season, nothing is lost at this point.

Ours did in 2012 and 2021.. Carlo is smart guy, 1-2 addition and a tactical change can dramatically shake things up.

We had a change of manager on both occasions. That had a huge influence.

Ancelotti stated that he was pleased with his squad, so I don't see them doing much business in January unless it's in a few to future seasons (similar to Endrick, Guler, etc). As numerous posters have mentioned, they chose to disregard the glaringly evident deficiencies in defence, believing that Mbappe alone was sufficient.

The fact Guler & Endrick didn't play a single minute last night was very bizarre especially considering how the game was going.
