I find it interesting that Marin has come out today and talked about his discussions with Robbie prior to making the move. Robbie outlined his vision for the club, both short and long term, and Marin lapped it up. Also with all the talk that Robbie has had input and been told to keep himself available for the club's pre season arrangements, he has to be at the forefront of the minds of the board.

I agree with many, the club cannot lose if they give him a year contract to show what he is capable of over the course of a full season. If he proves as successful as he has this season give him an extension further down the line. If he doesn't then we can let him leave at the end of next season for no compensation and Roman can bring in Guardiola, fresh from a break, again for no compensation.

Another thing to consider with the FFP rules is that Robbie is apparently only on £1.2m pa. If we were to increase it to even £2-2.5m, his wages would still be massively lower than the big names out there.

At the beginning of the season so was 90% of all the forum!

The funny thing is they kept licking his balls after the poor results. Where are these people right now? They are the same that want RDM to stay at any cost.

Well if you mean Eldo, he has not appear since AVB got sacked.

Licking his balls or defending a young talented manager?

Still think he probably should have got more time, But we're obviously benefitting from it. Why shouldn't he get the job full time? And you think he should be Guardoila's assistant? He just bet Guardolia.

AVB would have a been a great Head Scout for us.

And I defended him and yep still here....

Di Matteo has turned things around, moral is there, results coming in...question in mind how long will it last espically with the players we have but he deserves a chance to prove himself and be given a whole season. He can see from working with AVB and then taking over what works, what doesnt who needs to go etc.

No, defending a manager that was fucking with our season. Now we are in a UCL final, in a FA Cup final and we still can fix the damage he did and get at least a 4th place in Premier League.

It was so pathetic that people in this forum were saying bad things about guys like Lampard, Drogba and Terry. Thats was just crazy. I did not know that the obsession with "keeping the current manager at any cost" would go that far.

To be fair, it was a Mixture of both. AVB is a talented, yet inexperienced Manager. This was part of his downfall at Chelsea, but the other part was the Players. AVB had the job of transforming Chelsea for the future, but the Old Guard didn't like that idea. Yes, they are legends but they treated AVB poorly and not for the first time, gave up on the Manager and waited for Roman to swing his Managerial Axe.

In hindsight, the appointment of AVB was an utter disaster. He alienated half the team to what benefit? one or two early season results (5-0 away to Bolton) looked decent enough but he was naive against Liverpool, Man Ure, Arsenal, etc. Looking back, we were lucky to beat the likes of Norwich and West Brom at home, very poor season indeed. The press started to bang on about the likes of Lampard (33) and Terry 31!) being over the hill but little said about Ferdinand, Scholes and Giggs.

AVB let things fester and ultimately paid for it. Robbie has been like a breath of fresh air.

One thing is for sure.Even if Chelsea part ways with him,he won't be short of any suitors and wont need to manage relegation battling sides.A top job will await for him.

Id be very jealous of the club that gets RDM if Chelsea doesn't hire him full time.

I still don't think he will get it even if we win both cups. I don't think Roman will trust him to lead the club forward. I think RDM has done a great job brining this group of players back together but long term i just don't see it..

Well if we do manage to win BOTH cups, then RDM getting the job full time should be a certainty. If he doesn't get the job..and we end up with someone average like Laurent Blanc, then that'll be a disgrace.

The only other manager capable of handling the Chelsea role is Jose Mourinho & he's already said that he wants to stay at least 1 more year at Madrid..
