Rom2013 446
If Pogba plays as a number 6 and his freedom was shackled he wouldn't have much influence going forward either. He didn't play number 6, he played number 8 in the doble pivot, like we always do. You just have to compare what Ramires, Fabregas or even Matic (in the number 6) usually do in our midfield to see that this was not good enough. But if you want to fool yourself about it, just do it. I'm ok with it. He played as good as Mikel, but the only problem is that the job o Mikel is mainly to do that, and the job of the number 8 is different. If this is an OK performance I think we should have Ramires forever with us because compared with this he is world class. LondonsFinest 692
Few people slagging him off already.Unbelievable.If you don't score a goal on your debut, it doesn't count. You are already labeled a flop by most of these forum specialists and once that happens, it's hard. He wasn't special really, but it was his first start and he didn't look shook or like he cared(that it was his first start, thats is), he only wanted to do his job. Something Mourinho merits, to be quite fair. 27 passes complete, couple of great tackles and a cool head. I really hope he gets more minutes next season and is a considerable option, depending on the opponent.
JDY 1,290
Thought he didn't put a foot wrong tbh, solid debut. One thing I would say is I'd like to see him play in a less disciplined role like he's been doing for the youth teams. Understandable vs Liverpool but it will be interesting to see if he does vs weaker sides (if he starts).
Popular Post! Rekin 835 Posted May 10, 2015 Popular Post! Share Posted May 10, 2015 Problem is that people suddenly expect that a youngster will perform some kind of Messi-esque magic in his first start with the senior team. Do you even understand how nervous he must have been? A terrible performance in this kind of game and there is a risk that youre falling behind even further in the pecking order. He was strong in possession, won several balls and intercepted others, had slightly poor positioning at times (due to being out of sync with the others) and looked up for it. I am happy with his debut, and absolutely think that he has a future here. It is really hard to impress in this type of game in his position.I checked the thread over at redcafe, and everyone that mentioned him there (fans of other teams) said he played well and was promising. I can only agree with that. Azul, The Chels, ILoveLamp and 9 others
Amblève. 4,995
Are we talking about Pogba? I thought this was the Loftus-Cheek thread? I just want to see Ruben do well, he was bang average and looked like he was out of his depth a bit... First game but lots to learnI think this is fair. RLC didn't do much on offense but he was solid defensively (bar 2, 3 incidents where he was completely out of position). The only thing that pissed me off was Mou's decision to bring RLC off. Just give him the godamn playing time. We weren't gonna be any better with Matic anyway seeing as he was was bad these past few weeks. Siwy_CFC 7
He plays well, I'm sure he's future is bright. I dont understand how you can deny it. Im pretty impressed by his performance today. All his passes was clearly good - 100% accuracy. I'm sure next season he will improve his skills with every minute played.

What match were you watching?Looked perfectly able and assured. Didn't panic and didn't give the ball away once. Clearly he didn't take any risks and played it safe, but that's to be expected of a teenager making his debut against a heated rival.Had a nice combative side to him as well. Got after them nicely. mufilika 101
Yes he was nothing impressive. Get over it. One of the worst performances of any number 8 in the last 2 years, even Matic playing in the number 6 many times offers a ton more in attack than he did.He has a lot of time to improve, it's just one game and he will get more oportunities, but today this was not good.He didn't play number 6, he played number 8 in the doble pivot, like we always do. supporter 3,088
He has played a good game but without doing anything special because the match has not demanded anything special to him.RCL has played in a position perhaps a little uncomfortable for him and with Mikel as a partner instead of Matic (play with Matic It is easier for any player). But he has not been an disappointment or something like that. He has had a good performance but without luxuries. RLC did not want to risk to avoid making mistakes on their first day. And that's good. For example Zouma played very nervous at first giving passes without any risk, and with the passing of time he has gained confidence and now he is indisputable for us.I'm not worried at all. I trust RLC.Regards. killer1257

Got after them nicely. Not to me. Looked a little like deer in headlights. Made a couple decent tackles but was often out of position and slow to react... He'll get better, he just took it simple and let the game come to him. Next time out I want him to utilize his strengths on the pitch more. For those that think I'm coating him off let it me known I'm not! I want him to be a Chelsea mainstay and good enough so that we don't have to buy again. I was over the moon when I saw he was starting and I'm holding the faith that he can show that he, not only belongs in this league, but that he can cut it at a club the size of Chelsea. A couple tackles and a few interceptions isn't near enough. Does anyone remember how all at Chelsea were raving over Romeu? How he was the next great 6 in our club??? How after his first couple appearances he asserted himself and showed real quality? Well that's what I want for Ruben and I also want him to kick on from there, its very important to the club that he develops into a player who can feature for us. Popular Post! supporter 3,088 Posted May 10, 2015 Popular Post! Share Posted May 10, 2015 I'm pretty happy with the debut and performance of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and I think we should not be so demanding with our young players or they will play with a level of anxiety totally unbearable. We can not behave as journalists or rival fans.Ruben Loftus-Cheek is 19 and he has been with us since he was 8 years old. More than 10 years learning what is Chelsea from within. If we kill the guy for being a little nervous the first day in his debut which he has been waiting more than 10 years... I think we'd be making a BIG mistake.By the way, for me it was a good debut.Regards. LDN Blue, DDA, Blue-in-me-Veins and 4 others
Popular Post! herpthederp 122 Posted May 10, 2015 Popular Post! Share Posted May 10, 2015 27 passes, 100% pass completion, 3 interceptions, 1 tackle, 1 block. Not sure what more people were expecting from a 19 year old on his début put in there to sit with Mikel.
