How can Chelsea claim to be rebuilding...

Chelsea?

When we haven't gotten rid of anyone? Peter Chec, Terry, Lampard and Drogba are the old chelsea and we all know this. yet we claimed this would be a transition year and these guys are still around. how can we not transfer any player that was over 30 last summer? simple example of how these veterans are affecting our team.

Vs Man city, we got a penalty and Mata was gonna take it, but Lampard, being on the field for about 10min, steps to the spot instead, and Mata had to step back and let lamps take it.

Vs Villa (i think) Drogba takes the penalty when it seemed Mata was the designated PK taker without lamps that day.

By none of these examples I'm i trying to say lamps and grogba were selfish or even wrong. But it pretty obvious that Mata, who has performed better than Lamps n drogs (imo) has less power in the squad than these older guards.

We need to replace these players. Lampard needs to be replaced, not just in the first 11. Drogba also. These players are too "powerful" which blocks our new players from expressing themselves. We simply should not bring Lampard, Drogba, Malouda, and Kalou back.

Messi was good with Ronaldinho around, but the second Ronaldinho left, Messi became a world beater. Players step up when they have a leadership role. You shouldn't waste your leadership roles on players that are losing a step. My suggestions for Chelsea:

Transfers this summer:

Lampard - great player, but his accomplishments make it hard to drop him to bench. It also makes it harder for younger players to take leadership roles.

Drogba - similar to Lampard's situation

Torres - I don't think our team fits him

Malouda, Kalou, Bosingwa, Feriera(?) and Raul Mierales are wild cards. only replace them if there's alternatives.

Bring in:

(My bring in is obviously assuming everything works like a video game and there's really no intangibles blocking the transfers)

Di Maria - seems to want out, He's the best winger in the world; we need a winger -40mil

Ayew - also a very promising winger that tracks back. he'll be pretty cheap and doesn't have to start many games for Chelsea. he seems a hard working. -15mil

Hazard -not as big a priority as Di Maria but he can become an awesome player here. 35mil

a CF - not sure if there's a better option than Cavani but we should certainly try to bring one in. Danny boy cannot be our main CF going into the next year. he will be a backup CF and RW, if he's not happy and underperforms we should look at Willian or another winger that's not as "ambitious" as Danny boy seems to be.. CF - 30mil

This spending spree will cost about 120mill. around 90 mill if you add our player sales.

Our typical match day squad

4231

------------------Chec

Ivan-------Luiz-------Terry------Cole

-----------Ramirez--Romeu-----------

Di Maria--------Mata-----------Hazard

------------------Cavani?--------------------

Bench-- Turnbull, Stturidge. Cahill, Essien, Ayew, Josh M?

Words of honey bro nice post.

It's not going to happen overnight. You can't just sell a player like Lamps, Drogs, Terry etc. If the other club doesn't agree with there wage demands, they won't leave! The only hope is if these MLS or cashed up russian teams come in and agree to pay them overs. Besides, getting rid of experienced players will only get you another Arsenal team. I know most of you find it hard to believe, but having experince in the aquad is just as important as anything else. Man united have proved that in the last 20 years..

Man United have proven that with the same manager for that whole period... Our experienced players sometimes seem like they don't want to adapt (esp. Lamps n Drogs)..

As "Chelsea?" said about Lamps taking the penalty instead of Mata (AVB assigned Mata to take them). That's just givin us a clue of the attitude of some senior players... You want experience keep Cole n Terry.. Lampard and Drogba don't seem too happy to adapt.

The rebuilding started at the end of 2009/10 when Joe Cole, Belletti, Deco and Ballack and Carvalho left although Carvalho and Ballack should have stayed another season IMO because our squad was thread bare around Winter time when we had injuries and suspensions. However this did not continue in the Summer of 2011. The only first teamer we got rid of was Yuri Zhirkov and the rest were all reserve players. We should have acted and sold 2 or 3 more players in the Summer. AVB wanted time to evaluate the squad but surely the board were intelligent enough to judge which players should have been moved on in June and July time. But once again the board did sweet fuck all to help the team. I don't blame AVB for wanting to evaluate the squad though. For example, Malouda was like a new player under Ancelotti.

The rebuilding is a slow process because we have such a solid 'core' of players that joined in 2004 plus Lampard and Terry. This Summer should be busy like in 2004 if we are to remain competitive but we should not forget that Bertrand, McEachran, Lukaku, Piazon and Hutchinson are all available. A decent winger, right back (if Hutch is not good enough) and a new striker would be good in an ideal world with several players leaving. These would be Torres, Mikel, Drogba, Malouda, Bosingwa, Ferreira, Hilario for me. If we want to remain competitive then we need to spend some but the youth must not be forgotten.

Why would you stick to Drogba f.e.? With only these players leaving "the core" would be still as strong and present as ever

I can't understand why people rate Cavani so highly here. Just because he is a massive threat with Napoli doesn't also mean he will be for Chelsea.

the onlly reason I put Cavani in my line up is because he's the best CF that seems moveable at this point. I don't necessarily want Cavani, just a CF that scores on a regular basis

Drogba-- out

Malouda-- out

Mukel--- out

Bosingwa--out

Mierles--out

Then in would be

Jovetic a LW/ST to replace drogs

Malouda--Kevin de Bryune

Bosinwa-- alvaro perriera (converted rb)

Mikel-- romeu and essien.

Jovetic/mata----Torres/Lukaku---Studge/willian

Kdb/mata

Essien/Ramires/willian

Essien/romeu

Bench of: Josh mceachran, lampard, piazon anne kdb. Just from mid up that looks like a great squad willing to compete for epl title. I may have played one or two out of pos but u get the idea. Their not extreme buys like hazard and them but great quality low risk high reward purchases wich is what we'll get weather we like it or not. FFP on the way abramivich would do anything that would keep us out of the UCL like overspending by too much.

Willian shouldn't be brought in as a regular starter, rather a squad player. like Nasri, A. Young Valencia etc. IF KDB is ready for us then I'd rather we use him instead. but the main people that need to leave are probably the guys with strong ties to Jose era. Terry, Cole, Essien and Petr should provide enough adult supervision. At this point our goal should be trying our best to give youth time as much as possible. I know it hard but lets try to get them some time. Lukaku should be giving a start I think. Danny should maybe get a chance in the middle. And any youngsters the team deems ready to move up to first team should probably get a chance too.

Why do we keep saying it's a transitional season yet we we've only signed 1 new player who gets a chance (Mata) and our youth are still nowhere near the first team ? Why don't we try something different ? Why is Ashley Cole still one of the untouchables ?

How is that 'transition' ?

The manager must admit his mistakes and correct them. He hasn't done that so far.

Romeu (even I think he is nowhere near Mikel and you clearly see this through the last games the last 5 or 6 ones)

Moreorless

this is 3 players gett'n a chance

and we've lost out at rightbacks for BOTH transferwindow I would like to call into you're mind... and we've lost out at Agüero... who turns out to be a little Monster like we all knew before...

we can't expect a new stadium until Chelsea FC show the Chelsea Pitch Owners what the stadium would look like, where it would be etc. so the pitch owners vote in favour of selling Stamford Bridge back to the club and they can build a new ground. :)

yes, "transition" is the right word. And sacking the manager won't be a good idea, I don't want us to become like Palermo fc (13 managers in 11 years)! we have to rebuild, ok, but it has to be done gradually.

Gradually and properly though. I think we play like an uninspired team :(
