Sometime if they are good enough yeah. Messi and Neymar do hardly any tracking back at all. While KDB might not be that good yet binning him off after a few games purely because he refused to follow your defensive instruction completely is unacceptable.

They do a fair bit of pressing when required.

The only player that has a complete free card when the opponents in possession is Ronaldo, and word is Benitez isn't happy and wants that to change, which will be easier said than done with the power Ronaldo has there.

I won't argue with that, as much as I prefer Azpi at LB I'm gettingfed up with Ivan I'll happily go Azpi-Baba and put Zouma or Stones next to Terry, that's three proactive defenders and JTs expierence and leadership should hopefully lead to more all round displays in that regard.

I want to see Azpi - Zouma - Stone - Baba ASAP

May be a car crash at first but that's the long-term back 4 :worship2:

great buy for city.what a squad they have. and most of their buys have upgraded their team (otamendi >>>> demichelis/mangala, sterling > nasri, kdb >>> navas) though it would be intersting to see where and how they play with kdb and silva.

but with these obvious improvements and with kompant and yaya looking like they want to prove a point this season, they look set to have a great season. hoping for a long term aguero injury.

Yeah but can they click in the CL?

They have been a massive disappointment.

And then they always tend to fall apart December January time frame and that cost them a lot.

Let's see how well they can handle the CL this season.

not the squad's shortcomings. more down to pelegrini and playing 2 upfront against barcelona (hahahaha, sorry but even writing that is hilarious).

De Bruyne is better then Navas, but Navas gives them better balance, i dont think Kevin improves them much at all.

when Frank Lampard joined Man City,Joe Cole joined Scumpool,Petr Cech joined Arsenal,i wished then no success because their clubs rival us for success so I`m certainly not gonna wish De Bruyne success. a player who has made 0% contribution to any of our trophy winning seasons.

If they don't win the league with ease and get to AT LEAST the last 4 of the CL with that squad and that cash outlay then they'll have failed MASSIVELY and Pellegrino should be sacked in the spot.

I agree that they should win the league after spending all that money and they probably will but the CL is a completely different matter altogether.

Personally I'd still expect them to be knocked out if (when) they come up against any one of Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern, Atletico or PSG. I wouldn't be surprised if Sevilla, Valencia or Leverkusen beat them either.

It is also quite the hoax KDB doesn't press or doesn't run. People who say that are bandwaggoning and haven't seen him that much. He runs most at the NT by far and did the same in the belgian league and in the Bundesliga. Year after year after year.

I fear his supposed lack of defensive work isn't what did him here at all. He wanted to be a regular without proving himself. Whole different thing and we blues tend to confuse the two due to media and ...

Running a lot doesn't mean you're good defensively. Cesc ran the most out of all our players last season in the league, guess he's also good defensively?

Good work rate but that doesn't equate to intelligent defending.

Also not what I am saying. Willian runs a lot too, so does Oscar. They close down space, having relatively few blocks (both) or tackles (Willian).

Ive been a defensive player all my life and having midfields shift position, close down spaces, haunt that ball, etc. Is quite what you expect. I do not expect him to be Vidal, I would rather expect that from Fabregas tbh.
