He was superb at setting and orienting the game aswell. Brought balance to team. He did it at Real and later Chelsea. We didnt have as complete CM as Maka was since he left. He might not be the guy who made the 30m pass ala Pirlo or Xavi or roam forward like Yaya does but collected the ball (hence why he didnt roam forward; to keep himself in position and retrieve the ball from opponent) and the calm down the play and passed ball to offensive players. His role was extremely underrated, but he was key in most of sides he played for. France, Chelsea, Real you name it.

He wasnt flashy but a hard worker who made the start of most attacks in deep midfield.

Well, you and I clearly have a very different perspective of a "complete midfielder". You don't need to tell me how good Claude was, he was the best in his role and that's why he even had it named after himself. My dispute is that he wasn't the complete midfielder and you've mentioned that in your post yourself. A complete midfielder is someone like Y. Toure or Essien in his prime - one that does everything well, not one that's just a specialised player.

Well on other hand Toure realy does little when it comes to actual defensive duties. Same goes for Song. Song was suposed to be Arsenals DM but he spent more time in attack, rather in defence. Toure aswell. But yeah we both have different look on what complete midfielder is so let just leave it :)

I think the word you're looking for is "Gerrard," "Vieira," "Schweini," "Xavi," or "Alonso." Pogba has the skills and physique to be a great player. Definitely worth buying, but Chelsea really need to dump Lampard from the starting XI ASAP and get a good RB into the lineup.

I think Pirlo is a complete center midfielder, but also incomplete if you require BOTH men in CM to be physically imposing. Then there's deRossi, who I also regard as a complete center midfielder.

Chelsea need another physically imposing CM, a deep playmaker, to dump Lampard, decide on Mikel (sell or keep), and fix the right full-back problem.

still trying to figure out whether that first touch was completely or somewhat unintentional. :) whatever it was, his reaction was well fantastic.

Why is it a bad first touch? because it gives opponents time to close him down.

He normally has a fantastic first touch and ball control (I'm sure people know I love this first about a footballer :P ) so he may have not done that intentionally, but the calmness to finish off that shot is a testament to his footballing ability.

yeah I think he touch was intentional, but the ball went a bit higher than expected - he had to hold the shot for a second there.

Exactly, but he wanted to shoot before the pass got to him though.

He seems like a better form of yaya toure (or will get better soon) he plays beside cabaye for france and sits back and can burst into the box to provide a proper threat on goal(whether in the air or long distance shots)

His passing range is also fantastic and he has ramires energy.

If our scouts are not keeping an eye on him I don't know what they are paid for

yeah but I wish our scouts could spot these guys before they join the top clubs and cost a fortune...

Pogba went to Juve because he knew he would get a chance to prove himself that he was not getting at utd. Would we have given him that chance? I highly doubt it.

I wouldn't, but then again I don't get paid to scout and my understanding is that we've got a host of well-paid scouts at the club.

Since Juventus is a top club, I reckon someone there thought Progba deserved a shot and that type of insight is what it takes to find these gems before they turn into the final product.

The Italian league is completely different than the EPL. The league is mostly made of players that came through Italian academies while the EPL is mostly made from players who are paid to come play in England. Even in the Championship, you'll a very high number of foreigners.

Pogba didn't need "scouting" when Juve signed him. He was one of the highest rated youngsters in the world since before utd even signed him.
