Incredibly pleased for the lad, had a great game yesterday. He's earned his place back.

defended well in the air. but earned his place back? i dont think so , was decent against stoke but bad against hull and southampton. zouma did nothing to lose his place and performed against much better attackers, (aguero , sterling , kane) , unless he is required for midfield, zouma could come back in. i wouldnt trust cahill against utd's attackers. and zouma will make the team more proactive and get higher up the pitch, instead of worrying about utd the whole time, and making our defence look terrified when they come into our half.

I'd like to see Zouma in front of the defenders and Matic and Cesc just ahead of him. It'll stop us getting muscled out of midfield. If Remy is unavailable then we can put Oscar in midfield and use Cesc how Spain use him as a false 9.

He was brilliant last week, and brilliant today.

In a couple of weeks he'd of won every trophy going in his 3.5 years here. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea and has his little blips but in his time here, he's never let us down when it really matters. Deserves to be a champion.

I'm sorry if this post rubs people the wrong way, but I feel like we should know by now that when the team sets up defensively, he's generally AT WORST very, very good. It's his passiveness and lack of awareness when we're playing more openly that he gets exposed. He's very comfortable in our own box and we have the best CB pairing in the world for this type of football.

He was good and done his job professionally. But please, he was constantly protected by 6 players, he got maximum protection all the time. He didn't make a silly mistake but it doesn't give him monster praise. I'm sure how he'd look if we'd play more open football. I don't think that this season performance has something to do with him being supposedly off-form.

The terrific performance was by Otamendi yesterday, Varane in mid-week, was by Thiago Silva in the first leg against Chelsea or how Kompany used to play. If we want to praise terrific performance from our defenders then there's Azpilicueta. He's proactive and aggressive in his approach, modern defender traits, I love it.

Cahill is inferior team defender. And he suits here well now when we play like an inferior team, so the league medal will be well earned by him.

But long term he's simply not the type of player we're going forward with. Unless all demands from Abramovich and all the talks from Mourinho about style of play are simply bollocks which we'll know soon.

The fact that a player is perfect for some certain tactics doesn't make the performance ordinary, no? It was indeed great. Can't take that away from Cahill.
