Lampard was superb against Benfica ,all your boys who you say carried us through the season were awful ,namely Luiz,Mata,Oscar,Ramires and add to that Torres, Azpilecueta was awful as well ,the one who showed legs after a long season ,was Lampard .

How was Lampard brilliant against Benfica? Apart from the two shots what else did he do of substance? Hell Torres was one of the few players shrugging of the Benfica players.

Anyone who does not see that Lampard was one of our better players v Benfica is missing a great deal ,I am sure Jose will not have missed it and Mikel was rightly dropped by the waiter, so it is obvious he had worked it out .

One of our 'better' players in a game we played some of the worst football I can remember. Benfica dominated possession, territorial advantage, chances, corners etc you name it. Not saying much when you look at it like that is it?

Lampard is part of the problem. Our midfield stinks. It's absolutely terrible.

I agre with Phil here. Lampard was one of our better players vs Benfica. His passing was decent enough, The problem with our midfield is that Oscar, Mata, Hazard is one weakass midget magician too many. Lamps may seldom get into tackles but he is expert in defensive positioning and defensive organisation of the midfield. Mata offers nothing defensively.

2 points.

1. Why does everyone assume Jose will be very nostalgic and play lampard every game? You don't become one of the great managers by not doing whats best for the team etc.

2. Goals are still goals, and coming off the bench in the last 20 mins or so he can be extremely effective and Mourinho will be able to utilise Lampard in a great way.

Hutcho There is no way Mourinho will be nostalgic ,Lampards new contract had nothing to do with nostalgia .

In the waiters first press conference he told the world that Lampard would be leaving .

Jose knows a class player when he sees one I am just hoping Jose has seen what the waiter did with Mikel ,because he is our problem .

I think Jose is more likely to address this problem ,well said .

The team with the three( who will be tracking back under Jose) and with Mikel in there, offering next to nothing in the midfield battle, this almost leaves us with one proper midfielder when Mikel and the three play ,this usually leaves Lampard,Luiz or Ramires totally outnumbered in there ,I cant believe Jose has not seen that.

Lol your last 3 replies about this issue have all come back to talking about Mikel.

This is talking about Lampard's merits alone, not Mikel's. When you take away to goal scoring aspects of Lampard's game, he simply doesn't fit into the position that he's been deployed that. He lacks the ability to play in this double-pivot position, because it's not the type of player he is.

Yes and having to play with Mikel directly effects whoever has the misfortune to partner him ,look at the stats when Lampard plays and Mikel plays.

The waiter may have been told when he joined the club that Lampard was leaving and Mikel :wank2: had a new 5 year contract ,but by the end of his tenure he hasd worked out who was the better pivot ,oh and add the goals ,such a precious commodity in the game of football .
