The Rising Sun 711
They're not a historial rival, there's no bad blood between us, they play at the very top level and that's important for a player who still wants to represent his country and they're his team's sister club.Where else would you expect him to go?That would make zero sense. West Ham fans HATE him, they've spent the last decade or more slagging him off, booing him and calling him 'fat Frank' at every opportunity.Or Liverpool maybe? Perhaps dirty Leeds? In terms of historical rivalries, we don't really have one with City. In fact their fans generally aren't that bad either (they hated United more than us) so in that respect it's not that big a deal.I would have rather seen him playing for a "smaller" club, rather than city. No assumptions about their fans, they are alright. But currently they are our rivals for the title.Ideally he could have gone anywhere in Europe, but whatever the reasons, sister club etc.... it wont be nice to see him in city's colors playing for them. DH1988 1,348
Talking to a few days over the weekend planning some match day things etc and literally every single person said he's damaged his legacy with the club, I couldn't disagree that it's a blemish, I thank him for all he's done but it'll always be there. Popular Post! CHOULO19 24,332 Posted August 8, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted August 8, 2014 Does this tarnish Lamps legacy? Is he not a legend? Is he a traitor or Judas? There is middle ground, you know! Of course he is a legend and will remain one regardless, but this is by no means a bright spot on his Chelsea record. Yes, this is nothing like RVP or Ash or even Cesc, but he has still agreed to play for a rival club in a season where every single match that City play in any competition they be one of our biggest rivals. And he's done so after specifically saying that he won't. People have the right to be upset even though some are taking it way overboard. He's not a traitor, but you're lying if you say that this doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth. kellzfresh, The Mak, The Skipper and 11 others

Kostas 1,468
Does this tarnish Lamps legacy? Is he not a legend? Is he a traitor or Judas?Do you see the world in absolutes? I know I don't.To attempt to give you an answer:Certainly to a degree. Yes he is. No, those words are too strong. Also, to tackle something I saw earlier in the thread. I could understand the sort of denial that is needed to say that the move makes no difference to someone but arguing that Lampard had no say in it is absurd. He's a multi-millionaire not a modern slave.Offtopic: Glad to see so many of you still active(ly lurking ) :tophat:Guess there's a certain sort that sticks around and another that bails. The only place to be 11,313
Certainly to a degree. In your opinion.Tarnished.Don't be silly. He's still the same legend he was two weeks ago.Fact is from the moment he arrived from West Ham to the time we decided we didn't need him in the same capacity he gave probably more than almost any other player to this club, and represented us superbly both on and off the pitch.People measuring the degrees of legendary status to attribute to players is a little silly, because you're only going to open up certain legends (like a certain CLL) to criticism they aren't deserving of.He's a legend. He's one of the greatest players we've ever had. Stingray and zolayes
