We wanted to spend 35 million on Barkley only for the injury Gods to save us. Our scouting has been poor since Emenalo left. We should have gotten VVD instead of Rudiger by the way but we went bargain shopping and spent it on an injury prone player (I love Rudi by the way) who has a history of big injuries. I bet u Saints would have accepted 50 million from us instead of Liverpool since they really didnt want to deal with them after they tapped him up. Also out of that Monaco golden generation how did we come back after scouting thinking Bakayoko is the player for us?

They have been extremely hit and miss for the past 5 years or so. For every Costa, there was a Morata; For every Kante, there was a Drinkwater and so on. The reluctance of giving youth a chance has really bit us because I believe that is why we have stretched our transfer budget out over too many players. I am hoping that lessons have been learnt from that 2017 summer window which, with the exception of Rudiger, was downright embarrassing. I do feel the 2018 summer suggested we were starting to learn when buying Jorginho and Kepa and not being afraid to pay out for the right players. At the same time we were linked with Seri and Butland who would both have been significantly cheaper options and in previous seasons we may have well moved for them. On the Van Dijk transfer, I do believe we were in for him amongst others but he had set his stall out that he wanted to move to Liverpool in a similar way to how Oxlade-Chamberlain rejected us as he only wanted to move there too. On the other point you've made about our levels of spending, I do think however that despite having spent a lot of money, our net spend in recent years has significantly dropped and a lot of our moves in the transfer market are well funded by player sales. I'm not saying the likes of City and United don't sell players but they don't generate near the same levels as we do from player sales. Also since we've become a more possesion based side our recruitment has by in large been excellent and well and truly made up for the 2017 disaster. We've gone from probably the worst midfield out of top half teams to the best bar City (possibly even including this season) and signed an excellent young player in Pulisic. The only real question mark is Kepa but there's scope for improvement as on form he does suit the way we play down to the ground. Even the January 2018 signings have served a decent purpose all in all, especially Giroud. OneMoSalah and Bosnian Blue
milka 3,407
Chelsea’s shopping list for January : - World class CB - Striker to replace Michy and Giroud - class LB to replace Marcos Alonso - RW to replace Pedro/Willian You have to show ambition in this next market, leave likeability aside and focus on the team, half of these players are just not good enough. Nicco 927
Back to the Championship with you, awful fucking coach, 3 teams fighting for relegation, 3 out of form teams, all 3 loses. Loss against every big team in the league, just off you go already and let a real man like Pochettino coach. Vybz Kartel

BDTips 34
Officially we come to a crisis. The signs were there, the defeat with West Ham was a big warning, nothing has improved since then. Bournemouth came from 5 straight losses and had many players missing. I think saying that it's all bad now solves nothing and isn't fair. There are players who are very tired since several games ago, this is noticeable in our game and reflected in the results, there are practically no solutions in the squad for that and Frankie tactically didn't know how to manage it either. We could not continue to play the same way, with the same players, all games. We have a good eleven, when they are well and fresh, now we need to analyze the situation well. We will probably lose the next game and we will have several clubs approaching our 4th place, I fear we will burn all the money in January out of desperation. We'll probably buy the wrong players, for much more than they are worth, to try to improve this. I don't know what to really think. Frankie had to do something else in recent weeks. He is exposed. I don't know what to expect from him now. A coach cannot be stuck with a single idea. A sad day. It was being such a nice season. MoroccanBlue 5,399
Tammy and Mount have come from the Championship. Batshuayi has never been reliable nor the brain. Giroud is on the decline and doesn't fit the system. CHO has just come back from injury, and before that he was still very raw. Willian is a two-month wonder. Pedro has officially become terrible. Pulisic is in his first season, and we are already putting too much faith on him. What do people honestly expect Lampard to achieve with what he's got? killer1257
