LDN Blue 7,903
Well the only way to answer this sort of question, is to go back to a similar scenario last year when where in some sort of same predicament last season with Carlo. Qualified for the next CL stage, and instead of playing nothing but younger players we played the majority of the older core team. Why was this done?Well I think for the same reason it was done today.....Thus we all became disillusioned with Carlo because of his seldom use of the young players. When André was brought in, several people tesitified that he was a manager who uses academy players. I would've thought this would be one of club's objectives, Arnesen often said Roman had this ambition.

He is a good manager, good with youth, but what happen with Kakuta?More of a downfall of the team, then the player itself and the manager.Right now the best team to foster a youth spirit, is at a team like Swansea. Reminds of Own Coyle team of 2 season ago.
zolayes 14,489
In a way, Bertrand not playing for longer was the only one that didn't make sense to me. He's unfortunate in the fact that we have one of the best LBs in the world who is consistently good. His attacking prowess seems to be a little wayward this season, but his defending is still solid and his fitness is unquestionable. Also begs the question of Van Aanholt's future at the club.the lack of rotation with Ashley frankly baffles me. He SHOULD be rested more

Problem is that Ashley has shown no signs of needing to be rested. Like I said, it's unfortunate for Bertrand, he deserves to be playing.

CHOULO19 24,332
He was on the bench. Didn't want to cup-tie him for Swansea (which is where he looks to be going as of today) i'd assume.Doesn't making the bench cup-tie him?

Fair enough if they were given a chance, didn't impress and were dropped. Then we'd understand. But the fact that there's an element of arrogance as to use them is devestating. With FFP coming up, it's the perfect opportunity to promote some reseve players. They demand less wages, we don't have to pay for transfers etc. Hell we could say 'we don't need a right back' if someone took a gamble on Billy Clifford. We could say we don't need Alvaro Perreira if André tries Van Aanholt in a game.Don't get em wrong I still back André, but this is ridiculous. Very organized, good in spirit.Today it's a lacking desire, and then that in turns has a negative effect on the younger players. Look at how Phil Jones performance has drop drastically. And at the same time take a look at a player like Nani, who was also in good form, and has dip greatly. So from what i can see, is that when your team is in a bad moment that bad moment might not be ideal for a young player.....
