Yeah just read that. Not found out much about him tho

Cue Mz @Vesper

Obviously he is going to be compared to Lucas Torreira, as the are both young, Uruguayan defensive midfielders. He is 5cms taller than Torreira though. He played today and Uruguay lost to their River Plate derby deadly enemies, Argentina, 1 nil

I will try and find some games to watch where he started.

In terms of that tourney, keep your eyes on Marcos Bahia, 18yo Brasilian AMF. Looks special. Rodrygo is obvious the overall best player there.

Chelsea to sign another midfielder soon insists coach

https://sportshills.com/2019/01/25/chelsea-to-sign-another-midfielder-soon-insists-coach/

Sarri seems quite pleased to have Higuaín, but he’s been hoping Chelsea would sign him a replacement for Cesc Fàbregas as well and that hasn’t yet happened — and may not happen at all with prime target Leandro Paredes looks set to join Paris Saint-Germain from Zenit instead.

Zola, who rather unadvisedly spilled the beans on our interest in Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson the last time he gave a pre-match press confernce, decided to take a more cautious approach this time around.

“I’m not in a position where I can say more about [the search for Cesc Fàbregas’ replacement]. It’s something we are talking with the club.”

“How important is it to get someone in? It’s certainly an area where we could do, but it could be a problem if we have an injury. I think there is a good understanding between Maurizio and Marina.”

Guardiola believes City must be ‘quicker and smarter’ in the transfer market

Frenkie De Jong was in talks with the champions regarding a move before the highly-rated midfielder joined Barcelona

https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/soccer/english-soccer/guardiola-believes-city-must-be-quicker-and-smarter-in-the-transfer-market-1.3771071

Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City have to be “quicker and smarter” in the transfer market if they are to land targets in the future.

Frenkie De Jong was in discussions with the Premier League champions regarding a potential move before the highly-rated 21-year-old midfielder agreed to join Barcelona from Ajax in the summer for a fee of €75 million (£65m).

Guardiola understands the Dutchman’s desire to join his former club, but in general wants City to try to sign players earlier so that they are affordable.

“The transfer market, the salaries, increase a lot. After Neymar [moved to] PSG [for £200m] , prices increased to incredible levels. We have to be quicker and smarter, and try to buy the players.

“We have to adapt. It’s difficult to buy top, top players at a good price. It’s almost impossible. Maybe we have to trust in the young players [in the academy] and help them develop their own personality here.”

Guardiola has previously stated City would not pay £100 million for a holding midfielder to provide competition to Fernandinho – £60 million is the club’s record fee for Riyad Mahrez.

Speaking about De Jong’s move to Barça, Guardiola said: “I said many times – Barcelona and [Real] Madrid: it’s impossible to fight against them, for the prestige, the incredible league, the incredible clubs they are.

Rumors of Kagawa being avaliable from BVB for 2-4m euros. Would be a bargain for someone. Still a good wee player.

He played one game for Borussia Dortmund II (their reserves) and had all 5 assist in a 5 nil win (bizarre stat!!!)

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3065957

other than that he has no goals 1 assist in all other comps

Turns 30 in 50 days.

One of the relegation zoners could use him probably

Would be surprised if a kind of 8th-14th place PL team didnt consider him. Relegation battle probably not his scene as a lot of them are physical counter attacking teams, would need to be a team that play decent quick football on the deck to utilize him best. Bournemouth maybe. Theyve plenty of runners and pace as it is, bit of guile would help.

Maxi Gomez is reportedly close to PL (West Ham probably). If this guy succeeds in PL, he will be the next big target for every top club in england. Would cost a shitload but I see him as one of best striker prospects for next era. Should be on shortlist for us too. Dude is as close to Suarez regen right now.

Oh, its all good sweetie. I have no connections to the actual business of football, btw. Maybe someday! I am involved in the financial industry and I am passionately into the transfer market. It's my passion when it comes to the sport. I live to make deals too, in my real world job and life. It is why I get so bloody frustrated with the board and the constant failures, string-a-longs (especially by the Italian clubs, which is where MANY of my favourite targets come from, along with the Bundesliga) and also the seemingly ubiquitous self-sabotages, capped off by the utter paralysation that emanates from the selling end (unless of course it is selling players like KDB and Mo Salah for pennies on the pound<_<.)

My frustrations on the field are amplified by my inability to put aside the medium to long term even horizons that cascade down from-man management/playing time issues. It of course also is germane to our on-field production level, BUT, for example, this whole season I have been going crazy (until it actually, nightmarishly came true) with Sarri's refusal to pay CHO more due to always going with Willian or Pedro, even when Eden was NOT our LW. I KNEW the lad was going to be fished and quite likely his head turned.

When Sancho bailed on Shitty in 2017, I was instantly concerned about a knock-on effect if he came good, as the combination of incredible (both in terms of talent and young age) English (and other nationalities raised in EPL academies) youth AND (IMHO), the best foreign league for them to instantly get playing time AND a style that suits them well spelt big trouble ahead if the chips fell the wrong way, which they now have. I am not an all-seeing eye, so I was worried much more about teams like RB Leipzig (who coincidentally have now also joined the CHO race), Dortmund themselves, Bayer Leverkusen, and finally Borussia Mönchengladbach. Bayern came out of the blue (and red, lol). I was crestfallen, as I am WELL away of their tenacity and brutal machine-like refusal to take no for an answer.

Adrien Rabiot rejects Tottenham move and would rather join Liverpool

https://metro.co.uk/2019/01/27/adrien-rabiot-rejects-tottenham-move-and-would-rather-join-liverpool-8399693/

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a transfer blow after they were rebuffed by Paris Saint-Germain exile Adrien Rabiot, with the Frenchman preferring a move to Liverpool. The PSG midfielder has been banished to the reserve team after refusing to sign a new contract, with his current deal expiring in six months, though a long-mooted move to Barcelona appears to have stalled after the Catalan side signed Frenkie de Jong. PSG would prefer to sell Rabiot now, rather than lose him for nothing, and, according to L’Equipe, Spurs made a late approach.

The north Londoners were prepared to offer Rabiot a lucrative contract and signing-on fee, while Pochettino spoke to the 24-year-old in the week and guaranteed him a starting role. Rabiot’s former teammates, Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura, also tried to convince him, but his entourage have now officially declined a move.

Rabiot sees Spurs as a step down from PSG, while Paris United also report that he has always seen himself joining Liverpool if he ever moved to the Premier League. The box-to-box midfielder supported the Reds as a child and modelled his game on Steven Gerrard, while he is a fan of Jurgen Klopp’s management.
