The deal for the Serbian will be completed on Thursday, subject to the player passing a medical, the Belgian club announced on their website.Anderlecht have confirmed they have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool forward Milan Jovanovic.

Jovanovic moved to Anfield from Standard Liege last summer on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal.

But he failed to command a place in the Liverpool side, making just 10 league appearances and not scoring.

Jovanovic joined Standard Liege in 2006 and helped them win back-to-back Belgian titles in 2007/08 and 2008/09.

The 30-year-old, who has also played for Shakhtar Donetsk and Lokomotiv Moscow, made his international debut for Serbia in a 2-0 win over Finland in June 2007 and has won 35 caps.

Liverpool, who have spent close to £50m on Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam during the summer, are looking to offload a number of fringe players in their squad.

According to HLN, a belgian newspaper, a deal is very close now. Today the teams will talk further. Lukaku would sign a contract of 5 years. It's the intention that he is to stay at Cfc the first 6 months at least to look how well he will adapt to the new situation. After that he could be loaned out. It's also understand that the manager of Anderlecht will try to keep him another 6 months on loan at Anderlecht.
