Romelu Lukaku

Where have they gotten better exactly? As of now they have got Caballero, Sagna, Fernando and judging by the leaked video presentation Mangala is about to join too. Mangala is a good signing for them and improves their central defense but the rest are squad players at best.

They got Caballero, we got Courtois

They got Sagna, we got Filipe Luis

They got Fernando, we got Fabregas

We also got Costa and Drogba to replace Eto'o and Ba plus Van Ginkel and Romeu to replace Lampard.

Don't know about you but I would say we are winning them so far in the transfer window.

City didn't really need to buy this window.

Chelsea and the rest of the epl did.

Even if Lukaku leaves, I still feel we have at least a good a squad, or even better a squad than Man City, but our attack once again is left depleted quality wise.

Goalkeepers : Cech and Courtois is certainly better than Hart and Caballero.

Defence : Filipe Luis, JT, Cahill and Azpilicueta + Ivanovic just might be the most solid back four in Europe. It edges out Kolarov, Kompany, Mangala and Zabaleta + Sagna. Mangala, while he may be a great athlete is prone to make mistakes and Kolarov is a good attacking LB but Luis is much more solid than him. Azpilicueta right now is probably slightly better than Pablo "I like to get f**ed by Hazard" Zabaleta.

Midfield : Matic, Ramires, Fabregas, van Ginkel, Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle, Willian, Mikel and Romeu is just simply incredible, one of the top 3 best in Europe. It has every single quality you want in a midfield. It's better than Fernando, Fernandinho, Toure, Silva, Nasri, Milner, Navas and Garcia. It has more variety and quality than Man City's midfield.

Attack (without Lukaku) : Costa, Torres and Drogba is simply not as impressive as Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo and Jovetic. Those 4 are much better than Torres and Drogba. A guy like Aguero if he stays fit this season is just as deadly as Luis Suarez in my opinion. Now, if this wasn't Costa's first season, it will be a different story. I don'y expect him to start many, many games his first season. He will need time to adapt to the pace and intensity of the league.

We have better goalkeepers, defence and midfield than Man City but they are easily stronger in attack. And we saw last season with Liverpool how a superb strike-force can carry an above average team to greatness. We saw it with Man United in Fergie's last season there.

Better GKs and thats it....

Midfield is a wash and healthy city backline>chelsea.

if we sell him and get a technical, young striker in (icardi? or someone else) than I am happy. if we stay with Torres and Drogba, well, then we are f-ed. we should pray to god that Costa wont get injured/tired the whole season, because we have no strikers left. I cant believe that Mou would put faith in those both, so I really hope we'll sign someone if Lukaku leaves if not, Mou seems to get emotions over rational thinking in terms of Drogs

sell HG and buy another non HG? just makes things harder still.

It looks like he doesn't want to extend his contract, so he must go. Next thing is to get rid of Torres and get a decent back up for Costa which Remy and Bony are.

How can anyone blame the club for this when he went to West Brom in a loan which everyone deemed as good for him to gain experience and then last season he engineered his own loan to further his own chances to make the Belgian squad for the WC.....

Where are the quotes from him saying that he wants to be part of the team this season? That he wants to fight for his opportunity? Nothing.

He also happens to be a homegrown player as well, a quota we're struggling to fill now. 32 goals in 66 PL games. 1 goal every 2 games and he's only 21. No player his age even comes close to that. Torres on the other hand has 21 goals in 110 PL games and is 30. Drogba at 36 was deemed not good enough for bloody Galatasaray.. Yep, makes sense to let him go. Just a few months ago, this same player said we're the "biggest club in England" "he wants to play here" "Chelsea have a good coach".

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2646047/Romelu-Lukaku-insists-wants-stay-Chelsea-despite-uncertainty.html

The question is what has gone wrong in the space of June to August? I'm not going to bash the player yet because it seems that Mourinho simply doesn't want him.

Now, even if we want to sign a replacement, we are still left with the problem of Torres. Drogba also compounds that problem since he's not home-grown.

P.S : I don't care about his so-called attitude. He's only 21 and that can be improved upon. Besides, different players have different personalities. It will be a massive failure on our part, akin to Man Utd selling Pogba to Juve or us selling Sturridge to Liverpool.

If we're really selling him, I believe it's a combination of these reasons:

1) Lukaku doesn't want competition and wants to leave himself.

2) Jose doesn't think he's good enough and thinks we don't need him. He would sell Lukaku for that reason, not because of his attitude. Jose is many things, but most of all, he wants to win. If he thought we needed Lukaku, he would have ignored Lukaku's attitude and talked him into staying. Hell, Jose bought Cesc, who publicly said Jose should "shut up" not so long ago. I doubt Jose had particularly warm feelings towards Cesc(and vice versa), but he disregarded his personal feelings because he clearly rates Cesc and thinks he's what we need. So he swallowed his pride and approached Cesc and was so convincing that "he gave Cesc a lift" and convinced him to join the direct rival of the team Cesc captained just a few years ago. Jose would have done the same with Lukaku and convinced him to stay if he thought he was good enough. IF. It seems he simply doesn't think Lukaku is that good to make an effort to keep him.

You know, I still have a two-year contract at the biggest club in England, because that's Chelsea. So I still hope to play there. Chelsea have a good coach.'
