didierforever 7,349
it should not need a hat-trick from lukaku in a friendly match with belgium to make people say "he is ready". but since that is the exact thing that is happening, i feel there is something wrong with this forum.lukaku has been ready to play for us for a year now. his stint in wba showed he had what it takes. his stint at everton just confirmed it. I think he's ready and want him to stay, but this is a pretty irrelevant argument considering half of these goals were scored in the Belgian league. Also most of his hoals are in Belgium league while Messi, Owen and Rooney are in Liga+BPL I think he's ready and want him to stay, but this is a pretty irrelevant argument considering half of these goals were scored in the Belgian league. 32 of his goals have come in PL in 74 appearances. a very good return for any striker. he is the 3rd highest goal scorer in PL in the last 2 seasons. or rather in terms of minutes, he has played 4766 minutes to score his 32 goals which is 149 minutes per goal (which includes his 10 appearances for chelsea too)rooney's 44 goals in PL came in 132 appeareances.2002-03 :16102003-04: 24422004-05: 21822005-06: 3072an overall of 9306 minutes for 42 goals (since his last 2 goals may have come in 06-07 season where he turned 21) at an average of 221 minutes per goal.the stat even for PL is as good as it gets for romelu.for messi2004-05 : 82 (1)2005-06 : 909 (6)2006-07 : 1995 (14)2007-08 : 1998 (10)2008-09: 2513 (23)which means a total of 54 goals in 7497 minutes at an average of 139 minutes per goal which is better than lukaku's 149 minutes per goal but since the comparision is with the world's best player, we can probably give him that leeway.lukaku has performed at every stage that he has been given. he has scored goals and played well whenever called upon. saying "most of his goals were in the belgian league" is a slap to his acheivement. @skipper - half of his goals would be in the belgian league but even if we take them out, he still has a fabulous record. leading a team like anderlecht at an age of 16 and 17 is no small task. he even scored goals for them and that is what caught our eye. zolayes, Magic Lamps, seanptmiller and 1 other

nyikolajevics 2,698
Heard that BVB made an offer around 15 millions for Lukaku.Ridiculous offer.. He is a 21 and already 32 goals in the PL and also a former Belgian top scorer. Prices are crazy these days, below 25-30M it's unaccaptable. Also, he is not for sale. Buy Scorres if they want a striker. MrBlueGuy

(Fully expecting someone to post .gif of the Liverpool goal in 3..2..1.. )Yes, but Ba does not rely on his dribbling and first touch, he relies on hold-up play and poacher goals. Romelu, despite his size, is rather weak at winning headers for other players and in his general play with his back to goal. Instead, he relies on his pace and physical strength to run at defenders. That's why his first touch matters more than Ba's. quickpassnmove

But at Chelsea he normally won't be operating in too much space in most games because teams know that's our biggest threat. In tight spaces his movement and intelligence matters much more and Lukaku sniffs goals, which is a much more important asset than touch. I've lost count of the number of times I've read someone exclaim how he had a poor game apart from scoring - well no shit, he kept his head in the most important minute of the 90; that's what we should be looking at. Decent touch is useful but not as useful as presence of mind. His link up play will need to improve, though. zolayes and seanptmiller

Was it really beside the point? I compared their touches precisely because it's not that important an attribute in Chelsea's system - a system in which Ba has done reasonably well given the circumstances - and thus a system in which Lukaku should do well considering he's a better player than Ba in all attributes bar pure hold up play (including touch).Fuck's sake 19, do I have to spoon feed you?
