Ballack was fucking immense. We met him outside SB and he was proper decent

I managed to get my Ballack shirt signed by him through a third party who were sorting out his security cameras at his house. They said they dealt with quite a few players in the London area and he was easily one of the best and easiest to deal with. Great player and great person.

Whilst there was obvious demand for Hazard and a fight for his signature, he was very much still potential over undoubted world class talent at that time. He became world class here.

Regardless of who is perceived world class or not though it's a clear trend that's been at the club during Roman's tenure. We've always had a much better track record either buying younger players who have then developed in their time at the club or what would perhaps be more 'obscure' or low-key signings compared to the big money marquee signings. I know there's less margin for error perhaps with a bigger money signing but some of ours have taken the biscuit with how bad they have been, and so far Lukaku is unfortunately no different to the likes of Sheva, Morata and Torres.

Fully agree.

Of the list you give I can pick Morata as the odd one out because I was OK with signing him but was against signing all of the others.

You and I have both heard of players claiming to have turned down better offers from Chelsea in order to join clubs they preferred to play for instead. On the other hand, I can't remember any examples of big-name players claiming to have turned down better offers from big name clubs to join Chelsea instead. There is a pecking order and, for the very best players, we are not at the top of it.

I can think of many examples. Kante,Jorginho, Werner, etc.

Barca and Madrid tend to get their pick, but that is mainly due to the wages they offer and that has caught up to them with the financial mess it has caused for them.

We have done well against other English teams.

‘Something’s not right’: TalkSPORT pundit thinks Chelsea player has actually gotten slower this season

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/pundit-view/somethings-not-right-talksport-pundit-thinks-Chelsea-player-has-actually-got-slower-this-season/

Gabby Agbonlahor has said he’s noticed Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku looks slower recently from the player he watched at the start of the season.

Lukaku, 28, kickstarted the campaign with three goals in his first three appearances after a summer move from Inter Milan.

The Belgium international has returned to Stamford Bridge to try be the long-term solution at centre-forward, but he’s had question marks over him in the past month due to his quiet performances. For example, Darren Bent ripped into his individual display earlier in January against Manchester City.

A turbulent individual season so far has seen him score eight goals in 23 games across all competitions. Also, he’s had to deal with a hamstring injury and the Covid-19 virus.

TalkSPORT pundit Agbonlahor has suggested the left-footed striker may still be trying to get up to full speed.

“If you look at Lukaku, the player that came to Chelsea at the start of the season he was on fire. He would get the ball. He looked a yard quicker as well at the start of the season… Something’s not right there,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

Lukaku’s definitely got the turn of pace to leave defenders helpless, and it’s something supporters need to see more of. In fairness, it still feels like he’s building partnerships with teammates on the pitch, who aren’t always spotting his movement.

A mini goal streak for the Belgian should boost his confidence and overall match fitness.

As it stands, penalty specialist Jorginho is the club’s top scorer this season with nine goals in all competitions. He’s closely followed by Lukaku (eight), Mason Mount (seven) and Timo Werner (six).

It’s worrying statistic to look at from the outside when you consider the amount of talent within the current Blues squad.

There is real firepower, creativity and skill in Chelsea’s various attackers, but it’s time for some to step up in the second half of the season.

They’re going to need some key figures to emerge to help win silverware, with Lukaku’s understandably one man that’s going to be right under the spotlight at Stamford Bridge.

There's something called the 'honeymoon period' and Gary Neville said few weeks ago that Lukaku now looks like the Lukaku of United.

Aparently, he had only 1 goal vs the Big 6 in 22 games with United (which was against us, ironically).

24 games for United against big 6 in all comps. 1 goal and now 9 more for Chelsea with just one against Arsenal.

And that goal was against a particularly disjointed Le Arse who looked completely unprepared for the start of the season. Additionally, the goal was a tap in so not exactly one where you have to take your hat off and say well played.

Surely got to be on the bench soon. My hope is Kai plays against Plymouth, gets a couple and then TT can just say he has to play owing to him having taken his chance.

Lets hope we can ship him to PSG OR work out some sort of swap deal with Inter

they have  2 monster players (Bastoni will not leave) I would love to get

(NO, not talking about both for just Lukaku, LOL, Inter are not morons, lol)

Barella

or

Skriniar

PSG or Newcastle are the only hope. Lukaku moved purely for a new contract and wants that money. Only those two would be able to pay it. However, even then Newcastle may not be able to do it due to PL FFP which you know 18 of the 20 PL clubs would force on them if they spend too much (City are the only ones who wouldn't.)

I say Atletico and Juventus could also afford him, Lukaku wage is around £325k/week.

I probably would swap Lukaku for Barella without any doubt.

Nah we are stuck with him

he will continue to do a winston Bogarde but on the pitch

Tuchel should just freeze him out. Perma bench him as starter.

He appears to be that bad IMHO. He is lazy, slow, shite on defence, has the touch of a bloke in cement shoes.

Plus he is a sullen bish.

What a fucking cock-up by the board yet again.

£180m shit away.

Nah, we seen this before with Torres and Kepa. He'll play until there is zero hope in even the people that still defend him/wanted him in the first place.

He'll get a minimum of two seasons unless he gets an injury.

Juve can't, that is why they forged documents to the stock market and sold CR7. AM maybe, but I cannot see a Spanish team looking at his technique and thinking 'you know what, let's buy him'.
