Fox Soccer Plus 8:30 am ET

Foxsoccer.tv 8L25 am ET

5:30 am on the west coast. yawn

That actually works out better for me. Get the game done and have the rest of the morning to do stuff. Told ya it's better to move to the east coast!

Stoke have had a few more games than us to get their match fitness up and with their games against Hadjuk Split they will have a head start with genuine competitive football. Stoke will always be a hard place to go no matter when you play them, so the main thing imo is getting the points on the board. The performance isn't that important.

I'd defo start with Drogba rather than Torres in this game. Huth and Upson (probably) are two big no nonsense defenders. Drogba will be more suited to this kind of game

Definitely agree with you! Stoke is a very hard venue to play at. I remember David Luiz stuttered his good form there after he had played some quality games for us beforehand. I think Tony Pulis has done a really good job there... he buys the right players for every position, and he tells his team to be in the opposition's faces all the time, which leads me to believe that there won't be as many chances for us as people might think.

I'd like to see us win 2-0 comfortably, but I won't be suprised if the game is a tight one! I'd still think we will win though! Coventry in 1998 were the last side to beat us on opening day!

DVR is my friend. I might make it to the second half live but 5:30 am on a Sunday? That's early.

Townsend's lineup:

Cech

Ferreira Alex Terry Cole

Ramires Mikel Lampard

Kalou Drogba Malouda

Conflicting reports from separate papers: The Mail claims Essien is out with a knee injury while according to the Telegraph he's out with an Essien injury.

One thing I'm looking forward to is the Pre-match entertainment on the concourse, definitely worth a look if you're going to the match tomorrow. The guy who did all the singing last season was great and really got everyone going :D
