Pacquiao 1,834
I take it wth Barca about to sign Alex Song, Romeu will be a Chlsea player at least for this season. If so, I really hope Di Matteo will give him a chance in the double pivot. He certainly better then Lampard or Essien in there. On paper Romeu and Ramires in the double pivot looks good to me! especially if we are going to play the pressing game which is what i think we need to do, a front four of Torres, Mata, Hazard and Oscar can all press the ball high up the pitch and then with the two behind them being Ramires and Romeu who both can close players down quick i think it could be the way forward for us. Whether RDM will get us to press the ball remains to be seen but thats what i would like to see.
CHOULO19 24,332
Well Song is officially a Barcelona player which means it's safe to say that Romeu is most probably staying for the next few seasons. Personally, I'm delighted; I think the boy has got bags of talent.
YouNameIt 1,511
Really, what is going on with Romeu? He hasnt played in ages. If he's leaving, why isnt he? And if he's staying, why isnt he playing?
termninja 5,290
Busquets and Song are 24 years old so they still have a lot ahead of them. With Barca playing with 1 defensive midfielder I can see Romeu staying here Jype
Joker10 946
Never believed in Romeu having a future in Barca midfield, don't think he has the intelligence to play there. Barca fans who follow the B team, believe that Jonathan Dos Santos has much more of a brighter future and from what i have seen of both players i agree.Anyway kinda silly for Barca to replace keita with Song, or in fact even needed replacing when Sergi Roberto and JDS could have done the same job. Keita was a player for them who got more minutes than he deserved.I don't think anything changes for Romeu going forward, if he has a future at Barca then undoubtedly it will be at CB. Justin_3d 1,140
If he's still here by next season, then we can start counting him for future plans. And then after his third season here we can evaluate his performance, and then give him a new contract if he merits it. Blu4Lyf 46
I'm starting to convince myself that we're just not playing him because we're hiding him from Barce so they can't see what a terrific player he is and they won't want/buy him back. Ryan Fong 2,776
It seems very odd RDM didn't give him more chances. Probably @Blu4Lyf is right, we are hiding him from Fartca.
The Rising Sun 711
I think its time someone asks Agent 007 to check with his sources on whats the scene with Romeu.Atleast we will get some nonsense to work with.Right now we are so in the dark, this must be the best kept secret on earth. Maybe he is an alien.

Kieran. 6,317
Romeu must be thrilled with the decision to let Meireles leave, he'll surely get chances this year now.

He looked pretty good under AVB. Seems capable of playing a passing game. He was trained at La Masia after all. He has good potential. Popular Post! termninja 5,290 Posted September 3, 2012 Author Popular Post! Share Posted September 3, 2012 I do have to say, some people here talk about him like he is one of the best DMs in the league. It's a wrong approach because Oriol is still young and hasn't played football in some time, and if he was given a chance against QPR for example and he didn't do well, those same people would get on his back with criticism and conclusions that he isn't ready when in fact, he just needs some time. That said, I would hope to see him soon in action. Barcelona deal seems less likely now when they have Song and with Essien on loan, he will need to step up. Romeu's age is also good, he is young but he is ready for PL and to deal with the pressure. robdog, Joker10, YuriZhirkov and 2 others

One thing I that I believe has happened since Young Oriol have arrived to the club, he has given Mikel competition & Mikel will have to step his game up. Both are calm passers, have good movement off the ball and are strong lads. They are also both young so if they work out it would help us a lot for seasons to come. capriccioso
FL8 4
From few minutes again member of first squad for me. Maybe not from next game - he needs some time to remained how to play football - but after that can't see other way.Romelu and Mikel with some luck (both in good form) could be enough to survive. But still far away from dreamed defensive part of midfield.
CHOULO19 24,332
Romelu and Mikel with some luck (both in good form) could be enough to survive.I think you mean Romeu. Romelu is currently tearing up the PL defenses at WBA I think that we are, as always, too quick to jump to conclusions here. For all we know, Oriol could be behind all of Lamps, Mikel, Ramires and Oscar for the double pivot. He is a great talent, there is no denying that (and a great spot by AVB if I may remind a few people) but I think the next step for him is to realize that he has a great opportunity till at least Jan, and he needs to seize it by winning RDM over, something I don't think he has managed to do so far. Ollie 4,400
Romeu and Mikel would need some time but if we are gonna carry on with this horrible formation, we need 2 genuine CDMs and they are. Lampard can play some games there and maybe even some as the number 10 (against weaker sides of course).
OneMoSalah 8,886
Romeu must get games now, he is one of the two defensive midfielder we have.
