🇧🇪 Thibaut Courtois

No, that's not a fact, that's just a rumor which you are building a lot of your assumptions on. There are thousands of rumors going around papers in Europe every week and I reckon less than 5% end up being true.

Chelsea control the situation with Thibaut. If we want him to stay then he's stay at least till his contract is up. If we want him sold then he'll go to the team that we want to sell him to when we want to.

Reading this makes me think if we are talking about people here, damn!

First of all he doesnt need to go the team we want to at all, players can refuse other teams aswell.

You make it sound like they are some goods

If Chelsea don't want to sell to Barca, they won't. Just like BVB didn't sell Lewy to Bayern, despite his contract running down.

i know and that has nothing to do with my point at all......

the fact that choulo said that we can sell to who ever we want when we want bother me tbh

the player still can refuse the team that we want,so no we dont have that power

Also, quarterback is easily the most important and difficult position to find in the NFL while keeper is the least important and easiest to find in football. (I'm not saying it doesn't matter, but teams can win with poor keepers and great defences can make mediocre keepers look great.).

Don't think keeper is the least important...... Also, everytime turnball played last season I usually thought we would draw or lose.....

Also the most important positions in the NFL are oline, than dline, than qb imo. You can win a superbowl, with bad qbs ( aka flacco, dilfer, big ben), but it is highly unlikely without a good line....

Funny thing is, I know a ton of Atletico Fans that say the same thing about TC. He is a product of a superior backine, but I dont really watch belgium nor Madrid so I don't really know.

We are talking about people, actually. I would not be too ethically disturbed. Mou will want him to stay-according to a contract. Nothing wrong with that tbh. He can refuse loans, he can choose to go after serving the contract.

Let's reverse the situation: how inhumane would we think it to be if Cech get benched for Courtois after his service and current level of ability?

To be frank: we have two amazing goal keepers going into competition. Period. Time will bring us advice on the matter - but it is not an ethical issue just yet :-)

Of course we'll take the player's will into account because we treat our players with respect, we're not Tottenham! Yes, he can refuse loans or going to certain clubs, but similarly we can refuse to sell him to certain clubs like the ones in England or Barca which we most likely will if we want to sell him.

If you refuse to sell a player with two years left on his contract, you'll eventually have to let him go for free. Which is a double loss. Plus it's not exactly great publicity to bench a wanted player for two years out of spite.

I seriously don't think we'll see both of them in London next year. Makes no sense.

Mourinho said this on Courtois last time:

"We control the situation, not Barcelona, Atletico or another team interested in our goalkeepers. We control the situation, so that's fine."

I have to say that's fine and all, but what if the dude does not want to sign a new contract? He does have a short time left, so he can run down his contract and then we will be force to sell him like we did with Sturridge.

Unless he comes and be our number one keeper next season he is a goner.

Sign him up on a big ass new contract... keep him as for next season to compete with Petr then re-evaluate, he won't walk into the Chelsea team, if he thinks that hes stupid.

Then he will be leaving to walk into Barca's.

Our hand is forced with this issue, someone who has a free pass into Barca's team if he wants it, is not going to come back to 'compete' with anyone.

It's decision time, we have to play him or sell him. We cannot have two world class keepers at the club, it just isn't practical.

Do you ever read what he says ?

Let me help you.

I WILL NOT SIT ON THE BENCH.

How is that his choice? Does he think hes going to just waltz in and play every game? He will have to sit on the bench at some point. Players don't have as much of a say as their managers do.

Though it will be tough but ideally, would like us to have both Courtois and Cech for next season at least. The former may well be the No.1 but at least we would then have an insurance policy in Cech should things go wrong with Courtois. Otherwise if we sell Cech, we would then likely have to find another experienced keeper as a backup. Schwarzer's contract might be extended, who knows, but yeah..

No player in the world can be guaranteed a starting spot at a top team before he has played a single match for that club. You don't just "get" a starting spot at this level, you fight for it. Even if Cech is sold, Thibaut will have to come here and battel with Mark for the starting spot.
