Spike 12,049
We're in a fucking mess at the minute, so we have to be realistic with AVB. Judge him after a couple of years, we have to afford the man some patience, like it or not. Its for the good of the club in the long term.I agree. Jose had three years at Chelsea and if we must compare AVB to Jose we should at least wait until AVB has been here for three years.
Fernando 6,585
I pray we get 4th or 3rd and an FA cup trophy, i dont want AVB to leave, with so....its becoming more likely the return of Jose Mourniho, can't really decide if that is a good thing or bad thingBTW men i wanted to say, your sig....Legends all time???I believe you are missing a few then. First how do you forget the great Peter Osgood?
manpe 10,861
I agree. Jose had three years at Chelsea and if we must compare AVB to Jose we should at least wait until AVB has been here for three years. They are in incomparable situations. Jose was given a blind cheque to rebuild the squad immediately, AVB comes in a time when the club is trying to make profit and not to mention FFP (this means no more blank cheques). It's a much harder task for AVB than it was for Jose.
radaPT 54
I dont think Roman should fire AVB... Well i know the results aint the best but still, my opinion is that Chelsea's team is pretty unbalanced right now, you guys need good wingers! Burn me a third time....So I think the club and Roman will not want to spend like before, but tactically and don't get hussle of for players price. TrueBlue1905 5
one person could stop this damaging speculation . A simple statement from Roman saying AVB will be manager next year. Time for himto show some respect for the supporters.Given that this season has been our worst in the league since Abramovich's arrival, I think it's telling that there hasn't been a media frenzy surrounding AVB's imminent sacking. According to the Guardian Football Weekly podcast this is because journalists are briefed by Chelsea prior to press conferences that there is no point in asking questions about AVB's future because he has Chelsea's full backing. Contrast that to last year when Chelsea simply refused to give their backing to Carlo following our slump in form.I really don't think Roman would be daft enough to spend £28m on sacking Ancelotti and bringing in AVB only to get rid of him after only one season.Failure to qualify for the champions league would cause serious problems financially but fortunately for us Arsenal and Liverpool have underperformed this season. Bosnian Blue 2,471
Long story short:Roman told Andre that he has to finish 4th and do well in other competitions otherwise he probably won't be the manager next year.

Kostas 1,468
Given that this season has been our worst in the league since Abramovich's arrival,Is it though? League points are the only reliable indicator and afaik we're still doing better than in 10/11.

Kojo 4,676
Is it though? League points are the only reliable indicator and afaik we're still doing better than in 10/11.Last season in the league i think we had 8 losses, this season we've already had 5, and we still have to play teams like City, Arsenal and Liverpool away, and not to mention we will drop points. And of course this season the unforgettable result the 5-3 loss to Arsenal, a loss what will always be remembered and Arsenal fans will haunt us with for ages. Being 3-0 up then conceding 3, has to go down as a bad one even if we did draw, if your 3-0 up you should never draw, that's pretty much like losing. And the amount of draws we've had this season is unbelievable. Last season we went through a bad patch, where we where losing and drawing constantly, but besides that patch we where scraping wins or winning games 3-0 or 3-1. This season it's constantly drawing, losing then now and again winning.
Kostas 1,468
And yet if we still somehow finish with more than 71 points this will be a better league campaign.Besides didn't we lose 3-0 to Arsenal last year? Sure the other game was at home but performance-wise they absolutely raped us at the Emirates while it took a horrible display from Cech and a suicidal back-pass from Malouda to lose the other one. BlueLion. 21,491
TBH I'd rather lose 3-0 at home to Sunderland than 2-1 to Liverpool or 5-3 to Arsenal.Last season we were brilliant at home, in fairness. 14 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats from 19, with 10 clean sheets. That is 45 points out of 57 possible. Our record this year has already seen more defeats (3) and two draws. Not to mention the fact we have only kept 2 clean sheets. Even if we win all of our remaining home fixtures, it's less points than last year.

I would even argue that away form is even more important because it is always harder to get ponts away.
LDN Blue 7,903
Kostas does make a valid point though. It's not that we're so worse off from last season, okay we did have way more dodgier results, but we have maintained consistency with league points and such. The problem has been the strength of our rivals, City & Tottenham especially. Where Chelsea has failed to build in the summer, we've conceded certain advantages & it's not easy with a new playing-system trying to be instilled. Idiot 71
After Carlo left i hoped that AVB would be our new manager and even today I would love to be succesfull with him and that we enter a new era at CFC.It would be just fantastic to have him here for many years. But tbh I fear that his appointment was too early for him. You need to be an above average manager to be successfull with Porto but you have to be a worldclass manager to handle Chelsea and the EPL..I don't want him to be replaced and I think that we have to stick with him but maybe many of us (including me) got their hand turned because of the Mourinho comparisons and the "Fairytale Story" of the returning scout who leads us to glory.
