  1. Chelsea have never said any different, this has always been about Lampard not agreeing a deal.
  2. Makes perfect sense for a new manager to want as much time to have a look at what he's got early. If he's going to get them playing anywhere near how he wants them to, he's got a lot of work to do.
  3. He wasn't sincere. At the end of the day, most of them are in it for the money these days, Lampard's no different.
  4. Any player who turns down £130k needs to be shown the door.
  5. If the reports about his contract negotiations are true then I'm with the club on this one. I read that it had nothing to do with the actual money, it was about the length of contract. Chelsea offered a 2 year extension - and after getting caught out giving Sheva a 5 year one at his age, who can blame them? - Lampard however, was rumoured to want an extra 4 years on top. Surely expecting any club to give you a contract that size until you're 37 would be financial suicide?
  6. I'm sorry, I know no-one agrees with me but I'm with Mikel on this one. If he's going, he's going, that's football and we move on. Nobody is irreplaceable and if he's decided to go back on everything he's said then that's entirely up to him.
  7. Oh, I don't doubt the vast majority won't agree with any of what I've said and that's fair enough, I just think it's hypocritical that's all.
  8. I'm still torn on this one, but I don't agree with some of the comments made. He's been an important part of our midfield and he's been a great player for Chelsea, but the best midfielder in the world?? I don't think so. He's also not irreplaceable - no player is. What I don't get though is why supporters are so prepared to put up with all the messing about. Whilst everyone's focussing on Ronaldo 'messing' United about by not coming out and saying what his plans are, with Lampard looking like a move to Inter could be on the cards how is he any better? In fact, given that he's actually stated how much he loves Chelsea and wants to see out his career with us - and yet still didn't get round to signing a new contract, surely that's worse? At least Ronaldo signed a new contract for United so if he does go it won't be for peanuts. And even drawing comparisons to Drogba - at least he's given us the odd hint about his lack of committment along the way. But for Frank to go on about being such a big 'Chelsea' man all this time while dwindling his contract down to the point it's at now, I just don't see how supporters can think that's acceptable.
  9. Do you honestly see Scolari staying that long? His past history has to suggest otherwise surely?
  10. Its really hard to say Esk, no-one can tell which way a player will go and what their fitness levels will be like as they get older but being over 31,32 doesnt necessarily equate to a player deteriorating or being less worthy of a place.
  11. Obviously age is a factor and thats something Chelsea need to start looking at. But obviously players his age want contracts to see their careers out, after all, would anyone really fancy taking on a job that they knew would leave them unemployed and possibly unemployable before they were ready to retire? Right now though, we'd be mad not to give Ballack a decent contract.
  12. But realistically, how many of the players linked actually want a move to Chelsea? I don't think Bentley would be another Sidwell, he's got a lot of potential and I honestly think he'd fulfil it at the right club with the right players round him. Esk - the 'cold night up north' bit is totally relevant because its about the mental attitude of a player and Ronaldinho hasnt got the right mentality for the PL imo.
  13. Ive really loved watching him play in the Euros, he's looking like a great signing.
  14. Amazing the difference a season makes, lol. I totally want to see him stay at Chelsea and if Scolari can get past his little nudge on Ferreira, he should be begging Ballack to sign.
  15. Robinho has been linked to United anyway, so given a choice between the two where's he likely to go - the current domestic and european champions or a club who cant hold onto a manager for five minutes? (bearing in mind Scolari's not here for the long haul either). Add to that the fact that it'd be yet another foreigner when we really need to keep our british contingency up, then I'd take Bentley. Ronaldinho would be shite for us - might still have it in him to be a great player but he's an individually great player and he certainly wouldnt be working his arse off on a cold night up north for the sake of the team. Ribery - didnt he already totally rule out a move? Quaresma - hmmm, cant get past the fact that I think he's a cheating fucker.
  16. Times have definitely changed, lol. I fully expected everyone to say standing but maybe thats a generational thing - I guess you had to be there. Personally I think the introduction of all seater stadiums killed the real atmosphere of football.
  17. Bloody hell it was hot over there. Back in gale force England again now.
  18. Every player is replaceable and at the end of the day, if he goes then we just move on. We didnt think we'd cope without TSO once.
  19. Ronaldo, no question - no more of a twat than Drogba imo and more reason to be bigheaded for sure. Nani - great player and still loads more potential. Robben - pain in the arse for us with injuries but seeing him in the Euro's made me want him back. Bentley - young, British, bit of an ego but think he'd do a great job for us And if only they weren't bloody Arsenal - Fabregas and RVP
  20. Nice one, have a good time.
  21. Class film that. Anyway, the promotion's paying for a week away. Off to see the folks tomorrow.
  22. Bottom line is our pay structure is ridiculous. Whereas its ok to have players like JT and Lampard earning the same (even if it is an obscene amount), when you compare what someone like Shevchenko is on compared to Carvalho (who's contribution and actual value to Chelsea on the pitch is unquestionable) it's laughable.
