Yet another unconvincing struggle against supposedly poorer opposition. The upside is we got 3 points, downside is these performances really aint good enough. We might be keeping up the pace but its by the skin of our teeth now.

Avram Grants Crossbar Challenge Attempt
misschief replied to middleoftheshed's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
So embarrassing, I almost felt sorry for the man. -
Cheeky sod. That's the first one I've ever written drunk.

Just because there aren't enough anti-Grant threads imo, here's my contribution: Enough As the run-in approaches, let’s see where we are because, for a club ‘going forward’ we ain’t moved very far. Where once there was arrogance, self assured belief Every win we get now brings only relief. No strutting on touchlines now that Grant’s in the job, If he did the ‘chin up’ he’d at least shut his gob. Instead he looks clueless, stands scratching his head Dribbling and drooling, like he’s just been spoon-fed. No conviction, no passion, not a hint of a clue As top manager’s go, Grant just will not do. The team, once cohesive, almost joint at the hip Have lost their momentum and seen their form dip As if every game, the fight from them is draining - And instead that fight’s saved for each other in training. Still, at least we can see what Ten Cate’s here for Even if it’s just putting JT on the floor. But Grant’s appointment, I still can’t work out - I can’t see him reffing the odd sparring bout. So what is he doing to gee the lads up - As we’re soundly beat in each domestic cup? Constant change of formation/personnel In his vain attempts to make it all gel Clueless tactics, no heart and no soul Like playing Pizarro when we need a goal. Or Malouda when he’s just huffing and puffing If its going tits up, Grant just stands and does nothing. No half time team talks, no rallying cry This whole ‘management’ thing just passes him by. So where are we heading? And just what’s in store? Before the Clueless One is shoved out the door? Champions League maybe? Is that where we aspire? Or maybe the title, we’ll take to the wire? I guess that on paper, the draw might look kind But then so did Barnsley, its worth bearing in mind. Then if we get through, it’s the dippers or Arse In terms of prediction, I think I’ll just pass. So that leaves the league, how much chance have we got? My guess is none unless Fergie loses the plot. So this ‘taking us forward’, the Russian’s great scheme Does it actually involve the team? Or are we just a marketing tool So the Russian can use us to conquer and rule? Spouting ‘world domination’, well yeah, but of what? because let’s face it, the football’s hardly crash hot, So enough is enough, this farce needs to end Get rid of the Grinch because there’s Bridge’s to mend.

I bloody hope thats the case because the thought of Grant still being in the job next season is just too painful to even think about. Just watched it and it begs the question: If this season is anything to go by, what's Kenyon's definition of 'the next level'? He was waffling some rubbish about "building on the last 3 years" but how are we doing that with Grant exactly? We havent even built on last season yet: last season CC - this season losing out woefully; last season FA Cup - this season, well, the less said about that the better; last season, runners up in the league - this season, realistically we won't finish higher than 2nd and are more likely to finish in 3rd spot. So that leaves CL - if we don't win it, where exactly have we 'built' on anything? The man blatantly talks shit.

Lampard's Frustration Over Contract
misschief replied to changingman2000's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Then: “Frank Lampard has effectively suspended talks with Chelsea over a new contract until the end of the season after admitting that negotiations had broken down, a move that will leave him with only 12 months remaining on his current deal when discussions resume next summer.” “They (negotiations) have gone on quite a long time and, now the season’s started, I’ve told them I don’t want to get involved in negotiations that aren’t going to end well while I’m playing football as it’s a big season for me and the club.” (Guardian August 10 2007) Now: “I’ve been approached a few times by the club saying they are going to come to me with something and they haven’t.” “They have made contact, but it hasn’t been with any news. They’ve been saying that something is going to happen, but if we wait until the summer and nothing happens then I’ve got a year left which is not a position I want to be in…." (Evening standard March 13 2008) In the summer he was effectively saying he wanted to leave it til the end of the season. Maybe now the season's coming to an end, with the club not kissing his arse begging him to stay and having not had his best season for us the offers he maybe expected arent exactly overwhelming him either, he's not quite as casual about it all. I honestly think he'd go if he did get a decent offer but from his point of view he's maybe left it a season too long. -
Good call.

At the end of the day, we all come here and post because we support Chelsea. No-one on here has the right to make judgements about who is or isnt worthy. Some posters have a longer history with the club than others, some know what colour pants JT wears, some really aint that interested what he wears under his shorts. Supporting Chelsea might mean different things to each of us but surely there's enough people out there waiting to take a pop at us without us doing it to each other?
-
I'm with you on this one Esk. On a good day SWP's class but he's way too inconsistent. Jose worked his arse off to get the best out of him and it took a bloody long time but Shauny finally seemed to have sorted out his game and found his form before Jose left. Now though, the frustrating side to his game seems to have crept back in again. He's by no means our worst player but I've always had my doubts he's actually good enough. Malouda, I just dont know about. Looked really promising to start with then either his injury or Jose's departure seemed to detract from his game big time.

Well said that man! Wouldnt get too offended, the bright spark didnt even put himself on the list.

Really constructive turning on each other. Its a forum. Correct me if Im wrong, but forums are where people express their opinions.....and some of those opinions differ. Emotions are understandably running high, irrespective of the odd result, nothing's changed. Roman insulted us by appointing Grant and his remaining as manager, just rubs salt into wounds that arent going to heal until way after he's been shown the door. So if some of us don't appear to be 'moving on', its precisely because we give a shit about the club.
-
I think its ok that some people wanted to give him a chance (even if I wasnt one of them, lol) but ultimately, we all want whats best for the club and Grant clearly isnt it.
-
It is all about RA though, thats the point. As far as he's concerned the club, the 'team', every player, is his to do what he chooses with - and this season, as a direct result of his whims, we've been turned into a complete joke. Being in his debt was always going to bite us in the arse one day and it was never going to feel good. I guess to outsiders, the belief was he'd have to walk away in order to totally screw us but right now he's doing a pretty good job of it with his feet still firmly wedged under the table. Ok, maybe the one thing he doesn't own is the supporters, but until people stop bending over just because he's thrown his money our way and start to accept he may not be the best thing thats ever happened to us, then he'll carry on acting the sugardaddy, expecting to get away with shafting each and every one of us to amuse only himself.
-
I'm starting to suspect you havent warmed to him very much.
-
Isnt that his wife's party trick?
-
Cant come to the Bridge like that, this is Chelsea ffs, he'll have to get a haircut first.
-
Thats ok then, because they didnt.
-
Good point. Close though.

Ten Cates May Be The 'fall Guy'
misschief replied to Fulham Broadway's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
At the risk of being labelled racist here - although tbh Im well and truly past caring - what the fuck are they trying to turn us into? Is it not bad enough we've got one clueless nobody kissing Roman's arse and doing very little else in terms of his actual job, now they want to bring in more. What's next? Stewards in skull caps and a Rabbi on every gate? -
Cheers FB, excellent timing there, made me LMAO. I find it seriously insulting Grant's still in the job and these displays of support really aint helping me calm down much. Then again, Cech's hardly going to be allowed to come out and say "honest to god, the blokes a complete fuckwit. Care in the community is alive and well at Stamford Bridge" is he?
-
Forget Kaka, he's just committed himself to Milan til about 2012 aint he?
-
Takes the bigger man to admit he was wrong and you were by no means on your own anyway.
-
Totally agree with all that. Feel completely ambivalent about the rest of the season now, losing our home record will just about finish me off altogether though.
-
My worry is we'll struggle to sign the players we really want because of the mess we're in. Given a choice between the other big clubs in Europe and a laughing stock, which one would an ambitious player choose?
-
Yep, Ive tortured myself watching it since Saturday night as well.
