We also have some fans who just can't accept that Chelsea can still be a great club without Mata. If Mourinho wants to build his team around Oscar, De Bruyne, Hazard & Willian...then Mata's role will be reduced. I'm not saying that Mata will be sold..but people are acting like he's a god.

If Moses can't get a game...how in the f*ck will Atsu get game time? I thought if anyone was gonna sign him, it would be Liverpool or Spurs.
-
To be fair..the only other 'star' player in terms of wages on United's team is Van Persie. If some other player tried to blackmail the club, they'd be sold. I don't know whether Rooney is bigger than their club...but he never seemed likely to be sold. Just imagine the fans reaction if Rooney was sold..particularly when you consider that Moyes has failed to land a single player in this transfer window....

Well said. I'm not going to jump into conclusions..because we have only played 3 games so far...I just hope Lukaku isn't treated like Sturridge. The major problem with not playing talented youngsters regularly is that, once they get the chance to impress...they try too hard to show off all their skills and end up having a bad game.

I think Sir Bobby Charlton convinced Rooney to stay at United. He's only 14 goals away from becoming United's third highest goalscorer of all time... You wouldn't throw away the chance of being mentioned alongside legendary players unless a) you really don't give a shit about the club or you really hate the guts of your manager and feel a change of scenery is needed.

There has to be at least one club that could use someone like Torres... When Torres is on the pitch, we play like 10 men. If you were a tired defender looking at the sideline and you saw Torres coming on, you'd breathe a sigh of relief.
-
I just hope we don't screw up his development. Time to throw him into the deep end...if he doesn't play, he can't improve.
-
Yeh, that's what I remember as well...he preferred Ajax due to consistent first team football. Then Vitesse seemed reluctant to sell him to Ajax...and eventually, he ended up at Chelsea. Really hope that he doesn't miss out on the World Cup squad. Quality midfielder in the making...

1 year deal for Eto'o sounds good. Ba out, Eto'o in. Decent business.
-
Don't see what all the fuss is about. Losing Mata wouldn't be the end of the world. He's not untouchable
-
I agree that Moses is capable of being that direct player on the RW/LW for us...but realistically, how many games will he get to play this season? Unless Willian or De Bruyne pick up injuries, it's hard to see Moses getting game time on either wing.
-
Good stuff by Cardiff...but I'm expecting City to be too strong in the second half. Also surprised to see Spurs haven't scored against Swansea yet. Paulinho and Capoue looking good in midfield.
-
What would you expect his camp to say? He was sitting on the bench, whilst a past-it striker got opportunity, after opportunity to impress...
-
Even though I agree with the opinion that we don't need a striker banging in goals on a consistent basis.... We do need a quality striker, capable of scoring that winning goal in a tight match with limited chances....and currently, none of our strikers look capable of completing that task. Letting go of Sturridge was a mistake and until a certain flop of a striker leaves the club, this thread will get posts for every goal he scores at LFC.
-
Liverpool don't need Ba though...he doesn't fit Rodger's style of play.
-
I don't know if RDM actually wanted to start Torres in all those games...but Roman promised him the starting striker role and that's exactly what he got. Sturridge, what else can you say...gifted young striker, just needed confidence and game-time. Easily capable of scoring 20 goals a season
-
12 points with 4 left to play. Shocking game week so far
-
You're definitely right about his quality...and anyway, we need him in the squad. I'm guessing with Willian (and Eto'o according to various sources) coming in...it'll be Moses and Ba loaned out/sold. That'll leave us with: Strikers: Torres, Romelu, Eto'o, Schurrle LW: Hazard/Willian CAM: Mata/Oscar RW: Willian/De Bruyne Not a bad combination of players.. I still feel we could of spent that 30 million on a new DM.
-
Even though I agree about a team's identity...Football is also a business. You try to make your team better so that you can be competitive and win titles. Sometimes in the process, you have to make sacrifices in terms of players. I highly doubt José would let Mata leave...but you just never know.
-
I'd prefer Rooney as well...but United don't want to sell because they've failed to sign any top class players. I like the Eto'o deal because it's a one year contract. If it doesn't work out, he can leave on a free and we won't be left with a past-it striker (e.g. Torres) for next season onwards..
-
Scott Parker makes his Fulham debut against Arsenal. Wilshere on the bench for Arsenal. Hoping that Fulham can sneak a win!
-
I don't mind seeing the window open...it brings a bit of excitement to the first 2 weeks of the season. Watching the Arsenal fans hold up: "Spend, Spend, Spend" signs was hilarious.
-
Maybe we'll be seeing more of Oscar as a CM (against the lower level teams)? An Oscar -- Ramires midfield partnership would be interesting to watch.
-
You just get the feeling that United will steal a late draw from a penalty/free-kick.
-
Even though I agree about Schurrle having the ability to become an out and out striker...we still need a quality centre-forward to lead the line. Lukaku has all the ability but he's still raw...same with Schurrle...which leaves us with Torres as our main striker..and that is a major concern.
