  1. I'd be surprised if Rooney ends up leaving United. Moyes will keep him as cover incase RvP gets an injury...
  2. That's the most worrying thing about last season...Torres was our best striker. He got to start 28 games in the PL last season and managed a pathetic return of 8 goals. If we gave Sturridge 28 starts with a bit of confidence that he wouldn't be dropped the following game, he'd be able to score more than 8 goals...same with Ba. Torres has been given plenty of time to settle in at the club and he has failed to deliver in the PL...the only competition where he has looked good is the Europa league..against surprise, surprise average defenders. I just hope Mourinho can help Torres score more than 8 PL goals this season.
  3. Schurrle has alot of work to do. Hopefully he justifies his price tag and proves that he's better than Marin.
  4. Torres had the team built around him at L'pool...his flaws were covered up, he just looked great in that team. Then he had that injury, lost his pace & confidence and became an average player with no clinical finishing ability. Eto'o still has a pretty good skill-set. For 5 million, we could do alot worse than bring in Eto'o for a season..
  5. He could use Oscar or De Bruyne in that no.10 role instead of Mata..depending on the opposition. However in most of the games, you'd expect to see Mata as the starter.
  6. You can't compare Lambert to Grant Holt. Holt is a limited striker, Norwich sold him cause he doesn't have the ability to play the type of football Hughton craves. I agree that the top clubs won't go after Lambert..but he's a talented striker. If we didn't have Demba Ba, he'd be a nice alternative for Lukaku/Torres.
  7. Cardozo is a good striker..but he's no better than Ba or Lukaku. If we're really looking for a decent striker.. I hear Pablo Osvaldo (Roma) is available.
  8. If Lewa still wants a move to Bayern Munich at the end of this season, he's got no ambition. He'd be a very good striker for the top EPL clubs.
  9. Who cares about Torres at his best...if he wasn't so shit, we wouldn't be talking about Eto'o as a legitimate transfer target.
  10. Mikel's lack of drive in his play is the reason why fans don't love him. He had some good performances last season...and he also had some awful performances. Hopefully Mikel shows consistency this season...or else our midfield will fail once again
  11. Villa aren't that bad of a team...they are just inexperienced. Will be interesting to see how our CB's deal with Benteke..
  12. I just hope Mourinho gives Lukaku enough time on the pitch this season. If only we could offload Torres and get someone like a Rooney or Ibra or even Eto'o...then our striking options would be much more solid.
  13. I think your gut feeling will end up as correct It's not like a particular club offered you a ridiculous fee (e.g. Bale) for Rooney...30 million is what you expect to pay for a top striker. He's got a contract until 2015 and United don't need to sell him.
  14. Two top players taking a pic together! Nothing wrong with that.. As for Totti, I really like his aggressive play (as long as he doesn't injure any Chelsea players).
  15. Every keeper makes the odd mistake but I'm glad we signed Schwarzer. He's an upgrade on Turnbull and hopefully he gets to play a few games for us this season.
  16. Gustavo to Arsenal makes sense...he'll definitely get playing time in that midfield. http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/229209.html?CMP=OTC-RSS
  17. If Bale fails at Madrid, that would be awesome.
  18. http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/ligue1/story/lyon-striker-lisandro-lopez-completes-transfer-move-to-qatari-side-al-gharafa-080913
  19. I'd still take Eto'o over Torres and Ba as our starting striker. As for Drogba, I'm kinda glad he left the club because it was the perfect time to move on.
  20. So I guess the fact that Cahill keeps backing off opponents rather than close them down like an aggressive defender isn't his fault? Any decent striker with a bit of pace and trickery would love to take on Cahill one on one cause they know they'll have time and space to shoot/pass the ball. Cahill's lucky to be playing for a top level club...if he wasn't homegrown, he'd probably still be at a lower club like Bolton.
  21. Well that somebody plays for PSG because AvB treated him badly and at his age, he wanted to be playing regularly. I don't think you've seen enough of Alex's games at Chelsea...he was a much more solid defender than Cahill.
  22. I think with the right service, Ba can score 15 goals a season... I'd pick Ba as the starter against the bigger clubs, see how he goes...and we could always use Lukaku as an impact sub against tired defenders.. As for the smaller/mid-table clubs, Lukaku should definitely start..give him some confidence and then slowly transition him into the big games.
