Post-season review - Chelsea 2013/14
Reddish-Blue replied to BlueLion.'s topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Progress has been made in terms of bringing back a quality DM in Matic and winning key games against the big boys....but our struggles against the lower-half of the EPL continues.. Overall...without any trophies*, the season is a failure. You can't call another manager a specialist in failure and then in the same season, fail to win anything with your own club. *The season isn't over...but I don't see us winning the PL or UCL this season. -
The Spuds defence is rubbish. Just think about it, how many top clubs would want Dawson, Kaboul or Danny Rose? They're getting pasted because their defence doesn't seem to care....you watch all the games where they've conceded 2 quick goals, suddenly their heads drop and the flood gates open! I agree with the rest of your points....I just think Mourinho simply wouldn't let his team concede 4+ goals in so many games.

If the article is reliable....that is great news for Chelsea. As long as Torres & Mikel leave and we sign a striker and a DLP...I'll be more than happy :blue scalf:
-
Hoping that Torres just goes back to Atletico.... He'll be able to finish his career where it started, not have to deal with the English media and potentially play alongside his Spanish mate up front.. What more could Torres want at this stage of his career?
-
I was thinking along the same lines....but from what i've seen, Southampton don't need Bertrand or PvA. They have Callum Chambers, Nathaniel Clyne and Jack Stephens as potential fullbacks.
-
Yeh, it would...but considering Eto'o is unavailable...I'd much rather see Schurrle play upfront, than Torres.
-
A fair price tag would be 18-20 million + add-ons.
-
Pathetic performance...these games should be Chelsea's bread and butter. Congrats to City/Liverpool for winning the title Mourinho hasn't changed anything...we're still rubbish at breaking down teams away from home.
-
Thought you were being serious for a second there....
-
None of those clubs need Mikel...except maybe Arsenal considering all their midfielders are injury-prone Anyway to be fair to Mikel...if he replicates the type of football he plays for Nigeria, he should do well at his next club.
-
You're missing the point. People are blaming Ferguson because he left a group of average players (except Rooney, RvP) for the new manager. United won the title last season because everyone else was shit...and Fergie got the best out of his players. It was always going to be a difficult task succeeding Ferguson...and the most puzzling thing is that Fergie chose Moyes, who is NOT a winner to take charge of a massive club. I feel bad for Moyes because United is a step too far for him. At United, you need someone that wins titles, someone that immediately commands respect (e.g. Mourinho, Hiddink, Ancelotti, Guardiola etc)

Not sure about De Gea...but agree with the rest of your team.

It would be an even BETTER season if we win a trophy :blue scalf:

Out of Nando's 22 goals...only 8 of them came in the Premier League. THATS THE PROBLEM. I can see why you don't want Benzema at Chelsea...but based on statistics, his shot accuracy is identical to Diego Costa...and he has created MORE CHANCES than Costa this season.
-
In terms of finishing Costa is just as bad as Benzema...the only difference being Costa is having a very good season because the team is built around him. Benzema is a natural goal scorer...there aren't many BETTER options out there except Cavani.
-
Depends if the player is mentally tough or not. If the player is mentally tough, he will just brush it off and use it as motivation to prove the manager wrong in the following games... If the player is mentally weak, he'll get pissed off at the managers comments and lose focus
-
I'm glad United & Mata aren't doing well.. He left the club and it just proves the grass isn't always greener....
-
To be fair, the only player I'd keep out of Mata, De Bruyne and Essien....is De Bruyne, due to his potential. As for Lukaku, selling him makes no sense UNLESS you are buying a world-class striker (e.g. Cavani, Suarez, Ibra, Falcao)
-
I'm confused....is this a serious post or sarcasm?
-
Yea, Fenway group seem to have learnt from Dalglish's failure in the transfer market.. With UCL football on the way for the scum..i'm expecting heavy investment in the next 2-3 years
-
Maybe Kroos grew up as a United fan? Other than that...I don't see why you'd want to play for Moyes.
-
Potential means nothing unless Kovacic is guaranteed regular football next season...
-
If he had stayed at Chelsea, he wouldn't have developed as quick as he did at Benfica.
-
What a game. Once again, Matic shows his dominance in midfield A bargain at 25 million...considering United bought Fellaini for a similar price :blue scalf:
-
Kovacic has a long way to go before he'll be able to start regularly in the EPL. The question is: If Lampard leaves....will Jose trust a midfield of Matic, Ramires, Van Ginkel and Kovacic? The lack of leadership is worrying...
