7 months ago?? I remember beginning of last season where we scored goals for fun and attacked, but we were terrible at the back. I thought it was because of our style of play, but its bullshit. Some teams attack well and their defense is forced into one on one situations all game and they deal with it

Slow defenders not letting Mourinho release our attackers forward. All our defenders are terrible one on one except Azpilicueta. Why should willian come back to help defend against montero?? Why shouldn't terry and cahill handle the pace of gomiz?? Too slow, too slow When was the last time our defenders had a good match when we didn't park the bus??? Seeing zouma come on for Fabregas in midfield shows our other problem. Mourinho needs to keep fabregas and hazard motivated, they're still in pre-season mode.

We must park the bus before any of them have a good game. It's a trend I've noticed since last season. Imagine them playing for Barcelona where messi,Suarez and Neymar don't come back to park the bus for them.

This match just proves our defenders are shit and slow, even Gomis is running in behind our defenders even pique and Mascherano (who faces far more one on one situations) is better than all our centerbacks. Only Azpilicueta is good in one on one situations. Every one else needs the team to protect them, because of this we look suspect at the back when Mourinho let's us attack.

I know its just pre-season but, costa is as important as Hazard to us. No fighting desire from any of our players, no one to make Costas energetic runs and put the ball in the net for us. Just all passing and no shots, all foreplay no action. On top of the poor goalscoring players we don't have the energetic, big all round midfielder like vidal to provide proper energetic protection to our defense beside Matic. I'm a fan of good challenges from us in the Champions League and it pains me that we are now below psg as champions League contenders and probably below mancity if costa is injured again... Even if we lost against arsenal, I was happy we didn't park the bus. If we become unpredictable when teams don't know if we'll be defensive or balanced, it'll help us very well. We just have to sort out the slow speed of our passing, you can't break down a defense if it can easily cover any space which the passing creates. Which means we need more passing practice and movement practice to develop patterns in attacking. We can't depend on Hazard taking the game into his own hands everytime.

I've said it before that even Bertrand traore has a better shooting technique than hazard. He has no swerve on the ball which makes hazard try to do more unnecessary dribbling around the box when he just needs to shift to the right and curl the ball into the net.He shoots only straight and doesn't have the consistent shot power to make it dangerous. I don't know if he has a personal trainer, but there's so much untapped talent hazard can develop including his ability to send vertical through passes to running attackers which he rarely attempts for some reason.

Needs more strength to make up for his lack of speed

He's one of the best man markers for fullbacks, and his mental strength is very good. But he rarely tries to use his left-foot for some reason. So he always ends up passing the ball into Matic/fabregas instead of hazard. This limits the number of times hazard gets the ball to the barest minimum. He should also try running behind the defence after passing, instead of just standing there. When I was watching the game, I was complaining to my brother that he doesn't make forward runs and minutes later zouma came on and started attacking ferociously on the left like it should be. Maybe Mourinho tells him to not move so that he protects Terry's speed but we'll see.

He has the ability, if he can match it with that desire and intent to make things happen, he'll be fantastic for us this season.

Another one of our players that would be perferct in a 3 man midfield. He made so many runs FROM DEEP to push our team forward, reminded me of what essien used to do for us. Playing in a 4-3-3 would be perfect for our team.

This is very annoying. It feels like we can't get players like like hazard and Willian who have both the physical and technical aspects of the game. Annoying All our defenders are good defensively but almost all can't pass or are very slow. All our midfielders are either slow with good technique or fast with terrible football brains. We have no vidal, no complete players except hazard and Willian. We used to have essien, lamps, Ashley Cole, Terry(prime), calvaho, ballack in the same starting line-up There are now so many "I can pass but can't tackle" or "I can run but can't pass" or "I can defend but no speed" type of players in our team.

We don't need mobile midfielders that can pass We don't need extra goalscorers in our team incase of hazard (off form) or costa injury Just use the same squad and beat the smaller teams so that we try and win the league again. I'm sure this is what the board is thinking

Another proof of how shit we will continue to be in the big games without a proper midfielder. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. And I miss Costas movement, he'll disrupt defenders so that Hazard can have space. So far hazard is having the same impact as Sanchez, absent.

Remy is shit, we miss Costas movement. Hazard never demands for the ball, you'll think he's a youth player the way he can play 30mins without touching the ball.
