We could have (without loans) played our strongest youth XI - Blackman; Kane, Chalobah, Kalas, Nditi; Saville, McEachran, Baker/Boga; Piazon, Lukaku/Bamford/Feruz, Lalkovic/Kiwomya. Fact is, it's our 2nd-string team beating Arsenal's 1st.
Imagine Chalobah - Baker - Loftus-Cheek starting in a midfield 3 against their own age group. Domination. It would honestly be so much like the Essien/Lampard/Ballack combination.
You know how Terry has always been known as a Born Leader? Yeah, same could be applied to Baker. I'd love to play wit him you know, even if just a kickabout. He oozes confidence yet at the same time has quite a laid-back style.
Must be said - despite the 'keepers mistake, it was good work from Baker to even get that on target and think about taking the shot. I know it's an odd comparison because of how much he has indeed achieved, but I watched youth clips of Lampard a few years ago from when he was like, 16/17 or something, and the similarities are uncanny.
Technically since the goal was a rebound from a penno it came from open play, right? So IF we win, no "you only won because you scored a penalty" nonsense I hope.
WOOO!!! Good for him! I never thought of him as a particularly good finisher, because, well, he's not. But what he does have is that special instinct which only certain strikers get. That 'be in the right place at the right time' ability. I love it. He's going places - hopefully. (That's just a general comment. Of course I haven't even seen the goal!)
