We're in 2017. Do you really expect media outlets to still publish neutral pieces all the time?

Much like Sandro yesterday, I'll believe it when we put an actual bid in. At the moment, there's nothing concrete on signing players - apart from Caballero (who's a free agent), Bakayoko and Lukaku - and it feels like we're doing a Wenger. Leak stories to the press we're interested in Player X, Y, Z but not actually doing anything to sign them.

He's a former Stoke player and he wrote a column for the local paper. Do you really expect anything other than him being pro-Stoke? Again, because it was a meaningless friendly and/or he hasn't been heard since the 1970s, he can't voice his opinion? And considering most, if not all, the England players are pretty well known at this point, any player Pejic named would have gained publicity.

Are we even pursuing Morata? Because if we are, I'm pretty sure he would choose us over anyone else, especially when he said he would like to work with Conte not too long ago. But that doesn't really seem to be the case as Emenalo the board seem to be putting all the money on Lukaku in the striking department.

So you're essentially saying that Pejic was wrong to voice his opinion just because he was an average player? The point here isn't about Cahill's achievement, is it? Didn't even hint or not saying Cahill is "absolutely useless", but merely agreeing with Pejic's assessment of Cahill's game.

Were we actually interested in Tolisso or are people just using rumours based off 1-2 sources to criticize the club? For all we know, Tolisso's agent or Lyon could have used our name to get as much money as possible from Bayern Munich.

Funny thing is, Pejic isn't wrong about his assessment of Cahill. It's not like we haven't moaned about the same things over the years. And are people seriously using the 'he's won everything at club level. he's captained the club to titles' reason as justification that he's actually good? By that logic, guess the likes of Wes Brown, John O'Shea are world class players.

Has the talk of "improved bid anticipated" (or something along those lines) ever come to fruition?

If we can't even control games from midfield with a 2-man midfield (plus extra security in defence), what makes you think we will do that with 4-2-4? People seem so obsessed about Conte wanting to play 4-2-4. He may have wanted to play that when he came here but it's not his default formation and he's not desperate to play it. It's only an option and as he mentioned before, he will play a formation that the players are comfortable with.

Definitely agree with you. He's the best goalscorer in the world. But best player in the world? Nah. Not an all rounder IMO.

Funny how no one is moaning about the transfer fee when we are reportedly paying 50m+ for him...

The interview was done with the club's magazine some time back. Media only quoted it because the magazine is out and/or the embargo is over.

That's true and it is somewhat concerning but I see no reason to panic just yet. If we are forced to still have this conversation this time next month, then yeah, we can press that panic button. Also, why have our transfer interest leaked out if we can keep it quiet?

Someone pointed this out on Twitter and it's a good spot - since 2008, we have made officially only 2 signings in June (Deco and Fabregas). Most of our transfer business are done in July or August (remember the 2012/13 season?).
