First pre-season game (as it stands) - vs Arsenal First game of next season - vs Arsenal

So because I don't share the same view as you, you think I'm playing devil's advocate for the sake of it? Okay, mate... You should probably read my posts carefully before you go rampaging all over Matic. At no point I said Conte made the right decision to start Matic ahead of Fabregas. Our attitude was shit from the first second. Could have played Fabregas, Willian, Batshuayi or whoever else and it wouldn't have mattered much because we couldn't give a f*** about the game!

Would rather question Conte's decision not to start with 3-5-2 to begin with rather than why he started Matic ahead of Fabregas. A 3-man midfield would have given us better control of midfield against Arsenal's 2/4-man midfield.

It's easy to say now Conte should have played Player X and Player Y but the big problem was we just didn't turn up today. The desire, commitment and that winning mentality weren't there. Even if Fabregas had started, there's no guarantee we wouldn't have played the way we did and it's not like we haven't played that diabolical before with Fabregas in the XI.

Got the wrong player there but he has a point... We did deserve to lose today based on how we played but had the officials done their job properly, Sanchez's handball/offside wouldn't have counted and the game could have turned out differently. So many handball decisions have gone against us this season!

I agree that Conte's cup record isn't the best (excluding the Champions League) but his 4 defeats did come against Napoli, Roma, Lazio and Arsenal. Just find it strange he can get the better of them in the league but not in the cup.

It is somewhat disturbing to get outplayed by Arsenal...

All that praise, all that good work done this season and he went and ruined it with a stupid dive.

Shouldn't let this defeat and performance diminish what has been a great season for us but at the same time, this game also showed the areas that need to be improved this summer. Because if we are being honest, we need upgrades on Alonso, Moses, Cahill, Matic and arguably even Pedro/Willian if we are to challenge with the very best. That's without even mentioning having to replace Costa if he does leave.

Conte doesn't do cup competitions. He only wins leagues. He's like the opposite of Ancelotti.

Farcical performance. Had the chance to make more history and make the season a great one but ended up putting a diabolical performance, one that look like the players didn't even give a crap about it.

I understand money is a factor but it's not the be all and end all, is it? There are still other things that have to be taken into consideration - e.g. getting sufficient game time, style of play, manager, competing for trophies. On top of that, how many players can United really spend big money on anyway? Even with seemingly endless supply of money, there's only so many players they can buy and let's not forget their squad is bloated right now. They can't possibly fit everyone into the team. And for the record, that GIF was a reply to you mentioning that same old concern in like the entire forum!
